The point of this challenge was to have some fun and let all of us "experts" compete on a level field for an entire year. Obviously there is no juice added to the competition so 55% would be breakeven if we were betting with a sportsbook. Basically through 5 weeks we are just slightly under breakeven by this standard. Cubby is off to a great start but a few weeks worth of picks behind most of us. Still a long way to go.

Actually Bktuna, 52.38% is the break-even point when you are laying the standard -110 with a sportsbook, not
55%.

I came in 2 weeks late because I didn't even know about this contest until 2 weeks late. Yeah, I have had 0-5 days, I even
had an 0-8 week once (week 13 of the 2005 season). And Warren Buffett has made unprofitable investments and Donald Trump
has made bad real estate deals. What's your point? I have gone 353-251-14 (58.44%) on all of my picks during the past 4 1/2 years.
So let's do the math. Someone who would have bet all of my picks at the standard -110 juice (which is worst case scenario, several
'books offer -105 or -107 juice) at a nickel per game, would be up $38,450. That money would probably come in handy to a lot
of people. Anyone else here do that well during the past 4 1/2 seasons? I may talk a lot of shit, but remember that song.
"You say I'm cocky, and I say WHAT? It ain't bragging if you do it and you back it up!". 'Nuff said!

How did a fun thing turn into this BS? Who cares what Cubby does or doesn't do? If he as a"professional handicapper" can't beat out a bunch of amateurs having some fun he ought to get out of the business. If he does beat them out what has he proved? A "professional in any field should always come out on top of amateurs.

The term "professional handicapper" by itself is pretty funny to me.

How about the term "professional gets-lucky-more-than-not". I know there are people who have shown a positive result over time, but I have a difficult time grasping the notion that it's not just mostly luck.

I consider myself as good as it gets when it comes to knowing gaming, trends, odds, situations, taking into account public teams, line moves, injuries you name it. Gaming is situational, and a real professional handicapper will wait weeks if not months for the perfect opportunity then unload a butt load of cash on one game. He will cash and wait for the next perfect opportunity or as close to a perfect opportunity as there is.

I went 5 years on CRT showing a profit went directly in the tank last year and actually am having a really good season NFL wise this year but was horrible in baseball because I like value in the dogs and dogs took it in the ass this year. Orange stated its about luck and sometimes it is. How else can you have the Under 39.5 Monday night score 12-7 with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and lose by 10. Luck sure only I was on the wrong side Monday night. Wrong side of horrible calls, bad beats, you name it.

Betting and beating sports year in and year out, is without question an impossible task. You try to pick your spots and take advantage where you can. I spent 9 hours at the track Saturday and fooled around betting little dumpy wagers and before I knew it I was stuck close to $600.00 when I simply was there to bet 1 race at 5:20 PM... Sure enough I hit the race & hit it good for about $1100.00 with a very small wager so instead of making $1100.00 for the day I made $500.00. I wasn't patient, I didn't wait, I bet for the action. A "Professional gambler would never do that.
Enjoy yourself, don't bet over your head and make it about the event rather than the profit. I simply enjoy sports more when I have a vested interest. Professional gambler never met one that didn't die broke.

Cubby is correct 52.38% is the breakeven against a standard $110 to win $100 bet. We are above water as a group. There are enough threads with guys pounding on each other over trivial bs, let; keep this one civil.
