Well I'm heading down next week and may get back in touch with my lesbian, I mean feminine side and get my annual manicure. Last year was at Nia's Beauty Parlor in the Holiday Inn. The only problem is there's no privacy and all the CRT guys walking by to ZB can see you in the window getting your nails done and point & make faces- it's so embarrassing  besides I know there are cheaper places. I know many chicas go to the mall, but at happy hour a couple trips ago some CRT guy mentioned another place he went I think it was not far from the Pres. So where is it? Where do all you "fellas" get your nails done in SJO? :P

Hey, sit there proud and flip them the bird. haha When I start playing hold em at the casino, I'll get one a week and laugh at the guys because I might just nail the girl doing it. Now pedicures, I'm not so sure about those.

I confess that I used to have my hair cut at the topless barber shop before it was closed. Not much skill in the haircut department, but the follow up made my day. She started by doing a lap dance in the barber chair. That started my engine. As I recall the whole experience was about $25, but that was five years ago.

Well at the obvious risk of getting bashed again for being a flaming metrosexual (or worse), I have to post an update about a place and georgeous little Tica I just met, since I know a lot of guys actually do get manicures & pedicures (but will never admit it) and PM'd me about this topic when first posted.

Was walking back from ZB and directly kitty-corner (Southwest) from Nia's salon in the Holiday Inn is an art shop on the corner with many paintings, right next door(West) is a salon named "Albo Salon". It is actually Albo Rosa Salon but I think it just says Albo and has a picture of a red rose on the sign. A pretty Tica said "Beunos Diaz" as I walked by so I stopped to chat  and next thing I know "Patricia" was giving me a 2500 colone manicure, thats 5 bucks(!) and I was there a good 30 minutes. I think that's less than half what Nia's charges and Patricia is an absolute doll and did a much better job. She also gave me a free spanish lesson  and said she cuts hair too. I'd pay more than that just to sit and talk with her, she is so sweet and I gave her a nice propina.

Go see her guys if you want a haircut or manicure, just try not to fall in love. :D

yes, I paid 1000 colones for a haircut and later found baberia's advertising a plain haircut for 500 colones.

but, 2500 colones for extra treatment is a bargain.

and you say the young lady is hot?

thanks for the info, I'll want to look extra pretty for El Ciego's and Circus's "spewing volcano tour" this September coming.

Paco,

Do not let these cretins ruin your day. Gentlemen know that there's more to style than slapping on some cheap cologne and pulling out the pocket comb. :D Ooooh, and didn't the facial feel scrump-tee-ous! (lisp)

If I'm not mistaken, this salon offers (or did offer as of last year) really good legitimate (i.e. nonsexual) massage at a very reasonable cost. Paco or Poppa Nut, do you know if this service is still available at Mia's?

While we're on the subject of personal pampering, can anyone else recommend good salas de belleza where similar services can be enjoyed, perhaps at a lower price. Heck, I pay $9.00 for a haircut now (small town Midwestern prices). Unless of course I visit my hoity-toity "stylist," who charges me $25.00. And she's not even nice to look at....

PacoLoca,

The first thing I usually do after checking into my hotel, okay the first thing I do is have a few beers at the rail, the next thing is get is to get a manicure across the street from the The New York bar. I've done this on every trip except my last. My novia's girlfriend noticed my nails and asked her if I was "gay." She got a real laugh out of it. My novia does not really like that my nails look better than hers.

Anyways, I know what you mean about feeling like a new man after your day at the spa. I tried a half-day at the spa in Chicago before a trip to L.A. and I have to tell you I felt like a whole new man. And everyone noticed that something was different about me. They could not figure out what it was but they did mention that I looked great. I felt great, the compliments made me feel a whole lot better. I'm not sure what it cost me but I think it was about $300 for half a day at the spa.

You sexy little devil!!!
