Here's another tour operator of the white-water-rafting/eco-sensitive persuasion. Been around for almost 30 years. Big enough outfit to have their own lodge on Rio Pacuare. Website also available in German:

Thanks HikerTom.
My main concern with rain is due to risk of natural disasters like roads being washed away or gettjng stuck in remote areas and losing the chance to enjoy ooudoors in CR.
Looks like it is better to assume the worst.

Well, there is a reason it's called the "rain forest". :D This isn't southern California, all that lush vegeatation is the result of lots and lots of rain.

Now, you might get lucky and arrive during a relatively rain-free stretch of days. A lot depends on what else is going on in the region weather-wise. For example, a tropical system might wander in and park itself off of Honduras-Nicaragua for a while, and San Jose gets a week of torrential downpours. Or you get week of constant sun. It's hard to predict exactly what will happen, but the typical pattern is for rain to develop in the afternoon (usually hard but brief downpours) then to clear out by evening.

One solution is to go whitewater rafting. You're gonna get wet anyway, so a little rain won't matter! :D

Well, that would be a concern if you're driving yourself to the remote areas, and only if some feaky weather was going on. I've nerver had problems with the usual guided trips (Poas, Irazu, Rio Pacuare, etc.) that use large vans or mini-buses. For trips on the Pacuare or Sarapiqui, I was actually glad to riding on a bus, as the return ride passed through Braulio Carrillo National Park in the mountains east of San Jose on a narrow 2-lane road, and most of the time it was raining hard and very cloudy/foggy, not something I'd want to drive myself in. Likewise, if you do the Rain Forest Aerial Tram in the rainy season, you're pretty much guaranteed a wet experience (hell, it can be wet even in the dry season).
