Bibbers,
I know most of the guys who responded to you and none of their posts were in any way attacking you. You jumped in asking a question that sounded like "where are the suckers?" Now is that anyway to ingratiate yourself to a new venue?

San Jose is not Vegas. There are only so many poker games going. That being said there are some very proficient players around. Would the names Alex, Erick and Humberto Benes mean anything to you?

Step back, take a deep breath and relax. You'll make more friends here (and in San Jose) by observing before jumping in.

Welcome to CRT and best of luck at the tables.

Wit

One tip about CR poker that may be helpfull forget about game selection only 1 or 2 tables going on. The games are very friendly be willing to play short handed. If you play in the big casinos you will not be outclased by the usual players in CR. I myself play poorly thinking about the pretty dealers and waitstaf, but the other players like to see me come in the door. Good way to kill time waiting for the leche to build up.

Bidders,
Lighten up, I wasn't attacking you. I was "Razzing" you, that's what this emoticon (:P) means.

Seriously, your question is not answerable. There is no one place that is filled with bad players. Everywhere you play (including AC) has both good and bad players. A place with only bad players can't exist. If a place was filled with bad players it would draw sharks and they would scare away the bad players.

Here's the lowdown on the games I've played at in SJ. The games are pretty loose. Some of the best are bigger than normal, but they expect and usually receive action. If you play smart and catch some cards, you can do really well in a short amount of time.

And like Bvt said, there are usually 1 or 2 tables going at any time, and you may have to play 5 or 6 handed until more players come.

The game at the Clarion Amon Plaza is full of easy money and fish. One daily player is even named after a fish. You will need a wheelbarrow to haul away all the ez money. If you wear sunglasses and earphones while you play and jump up and scream every time you win a pot you will intimidate the local Tico players and lame old gringos who sit around and donate to the game.

Does this player on occasion wear a dress and a wig and look damn sexy? Not that the image is burned into my brain or anything. :P

The Horseshoe used to have some pretty crazy players....I have not played there in a couple of years. Just used to sit back and wait for a good hand or decent draw while the locals gambled.

The horseshoe game is now the Amon Plaza game. The players may have changed, but the action is exactly the same. I played at HS at the time you are talking about so I know it well, and Amon Plaza is very similar.

I find the game at the Colonial right next door to the HDR to be quite soft. There's some sharks there, but lots of fish who keep reaching into their wallet.

they run a 1-2 NL game $50 min buy-in. I think they have a 2-5 game too if enough people want to play it.
