The closest movie theater to the Gulch is NOT the one at the Mall San Pedro or even Cine Magly. It is this one:

Cinema 2000 Calle 9, avenida 8 y 10 San José, San José, Costa Rica Tel: (506) 223-6997

That's only 5-6 blocks directly down the street from the HDR/BM (or 1 block over from IDEM). I'm not sure if the movies they show are in English, Spanish, subtitles or whatever but I don't think they have much in the way of dialog anyway, if you know what I mean.

Close but no cigar. Omni on Avenida 1, Calle 5 y 3 is closer. Only 2.5 blocks from the HDR

There is an "adult" movie theatre for all you pervs. It is located on Calle 9 (the same street at Del Rey) and about 5 blocks down.

I know it well because it directly across the street from where we catch the bus or the pirate taxi to my novia's house. I tried to get my novia to go, but she called me a big perv and said no.

Prolijo, now that I reread your post, this may be the place you were referring to.

If you are interested in "adult movies" there is also a theater on Paseo Colon across from the Hotel Ambassador.

Do not know how hard core they are and assume they are in Spanish so it would be good langauge practice for, as Orange calls you, pervs

ID, to be honest, I had no idea or not whether Cinema 2000 actually was the closest, though I still think it's probably the closest "adult" theatre. Besides, when we start talking about such short walking distances what's an extra block or 2 anyway?

To the rest of you, my post was really just done tongue-in-cheek. I know we're all basically just a bunch of pervs around here. But I seriously doubt that very many of us would waste our limited time in SJ, sitting in some seedy porno theatre (probably replete with sticky floors and close friends of Morazon Park "chicas"), when we could just as easily be shooting our own porno videos back in the comfort of our hotel rooms with our own BM "novias".
