Actually, I believe that all of the places are technilcally in violation and unlikely to drop a dime due to that fact.

Not an expert in Costa Rican law, but I was certain that prostitution is legal in Costa Rica. Am I right? Please let me be right

They never had blackjack, as long as I've been going. They have Rummy, a sorry imitation of blackjack. There is no 3-2 payout on blackjack. It's a push if the dealer draws 21. But there is a bonus for hitting Rummy which I think is three of a kind, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've played a lot of hands in DR at whatever version of 21/rummy they play.

I thought someone mentioned they shut those tables down. I may have misread the post and don't want to start bad scoop. Just trying to confirm these tables are still open.

i played in the Wednesday tourney at the Fiesta by the airport. i play A LOT of poker, both online and live. trust me when i say that this tourney SUCKS. 50 dollar buy in and 50 dollar rebuys. well, they start you with 200 units at 10 20 blinds. its a crapshoot. then after 1 hour and a half, you can rebuy up to 4 times, which everyone does, so yo have no choice but to do it to keep up. long and short of it, the toruney ended up costing me 400 dollars.

also, played last night at the Paradisio inside the Clarion Hotel. we played 2 - 5 NL and there was a 1 - 2 NL table as well. the guy that runs the game Juan seems ok. he says they start every day at 3:00. a few loose cannons in the game. bueno suerte !!!

Hey BK,

I actually left town yesterday and am now back home in Fort Laud. Seriously, I almost postponed my departure just to play in your tourney. Ive been wanting to make one, but have not been there on a Sunday since youve been running them. I'll make one sooner or later! Bueno Suerte!

Iteachu- you might want to consider checking out the poker scene in Panama City since you sound like a serious poker player. Poker is a licensed legal game in Panama Casinos...and most of the poker action is centered in 4 casinos...the Veneto, Majestic Casino, THe Royal Casino at Hotel Marriott, and the Fiesta Casino at Hotel Panama...owned by the same group that owns the Fiesta at SJO airport. I just posted a more thorough report in a more appropriate thread.

As for the Fiesta Game at SJO airport, while I can imagine the rebuy tournament being a frustration, the live game there was just the best action in town before I left Costa Rica for Panama. How was the live game there these days?

FYI...I am seeing alot of Costa Ricas top players coming to Panama for bigger money play and tournaments. Interesting...
