What's the deal unlocking my iPhone for use in San Jose? I need Verizon to un lock then I buy a sim card and install and buy minutes in costa rica? How much and does it suck the money through the data Internet ? Any help will help thank sin advance .JG

Just call Verizon. The Verizon iPhone is a CDMA phone but also has GSM and a roaming SIM in its tray. If your account is in good standing they will unlock it so you can use a local SIM when out of the country. In the US you will still be on Verizon's CDMA network.

By the way, the Verizon iPhone 5 ships unlocked.

I just bought a cheap Samsung GSM phone for use in Buenos Aires. I hear that's a inexpensive way of using a cell phone.

Thanks I'm gonna do that ,I purposely bought the iPhone so I can have it when I travel ,when I was in Colombia I had this tiny Derek zoolander piece of shit phone I bought on the street as advised by the fear mongers and I couldn't even text with it ,it ruined a few situations with my network of chicas ,I need the best international communications phone to keep in touch with my stable of young whores .i mean novias . I will unlock it and start adding CR chicas but I'm certain it won't be as usefull as the paisas . Jg

I know its off topic (wrong country), but I will be in Aruba next month. I unlocked my iphone4 with ATT after my upgrade. Anyone know if Aruba has the same SIM situation like SJO at the airport?
