Good morning guys - FYI I just wanted to let everyone know I have a trip booked for mainly fishing, mongering a close second but we are serious and extremely successful fisherman. Anyhoo the trip is April 6-13/14th in Panama close to Costa Rica lodge is in Gulf de Chirique region.

Trip is setup for 6 nights at Lodge, 5 days offshore fishing till you say when. It can be 12 hr day or 8 hr day your choice. Typically I fish 2 days hard then take wednesday as an 8hr inshore day and then fish hard thursday Friday - this is largely for Chica reasons as my Chica will bitch at me if I'm gone all week or maybe I will take her one day inshore. Panama water is 99% of the time (knocking on wood) flat calm and we run everywhere at 28 to 30 + knots sea sickness is usually not an issue. 4 meals a day, open bar, transportation to and from Panama City included.

The catches are downright remarkable - shoot me a PM I'll link you to my photobucket, I have 30,000 pictures over the past 6 years fishing in panama and costa rica. In a 5 day trip you will catch 12 to 15 different species. Marlin is not a favorite of mine, but I have put clients on them to 12.5 feet about 850 lbs blacks in Panama on most trips. Personally I like to cast for medium sized tunas and the inshore fish like Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Blue Jacks, etc.

For Chicas you have a few options:

1. You find your own Chica in Panama City and bring her to lodge with you
2. No chica, you go to David after fishing 12 hrs and find one, bring her back - good for the younger guys
3. You have taxi driver bring Chica on his short list to lodge, hopefully there is good chemistry, she stays overnight due to distance and if you like her have her stay the rest of the week, if not have a new one brought in (about $160/night - $60 goes to cabbie, $100 to Chica plus any propina you might give her).
4. For me, I hope my fav will drive over from Costa like this past trip. Lodge is less than 1.4 hrs from Costa/Panama Border its easy to bring one over from Costa if She has her Passport.

This past trip we did not do our annual mongering night in David, but we can certainly make a point to do it this trip. Basically for a night in David to be succesful, we need all boats to come in from fishing by 4PM, be at the lodge showered up by say 5PM, we drive to David for dinner arriving btw 6:30 and 7PM we have dinner there and then hit the clubs. Everyone has to have their Chica in tow say no later than Midnight - that gives everyone from 9PM after diner to Midnight to get their drink on, get a chica, etc. Yes its a painful morning after doing the above but its an option.
