I was blown away by the La Paz park, even though i can't see anything. Just the roar of those big falls, a butterfly the size of a bread-and-butter plate landing on my hand, all the flowers... it's a wonderful way to spend the entire day.
OTOH....
We gringos pay $32.00 (or $44.00 including a tasty lunch), while locals/ticos pay something like $4.00 for admission.

I would like this park better if it wasn't so glaringly geared to gouge the gringo.
Interesting bit of history per the local guide with whom we spoke: The N. American owners of the park paid its original owner U.S. $100K for this 2 km. square piece of land in 1976, then put something like four million dollars into it since then. It is lovely, well-maintained and a great trip.
Note: Avoid the gift shop. They have some great souvenirs and books etc., but the prices are in my estimation absolute robbery.

Example: A laminated color placard showing the hummingbird species of C.R. was $9.00 in 2005. It's a piece of cardboard, for crying out loud!
