It was bound to happen. Co-workers (non-mongers) know that I travel to CR and Rio and are now asking for recommendations on where to stay in CR. How the hell would I know, I've only been to the gultch and Jaco.

This guy wants to go to an high end resort on the ocean. He's already staying a couple of days at Melia Cariari Hotel on the front end and on the back end. He's looking for a comparable ocean resort. Any suggestions on where and the name of the resort.

If the prices don't scare you, there is a new Four Seasons Hotel on the beach in Guanacaste.

Take a look at their website: http://www.fourseasons.com/costarica/

In Manuel Antonio I would recommend the Si Como No Hotel. I enjoyed my visit there, but be sure to ask for a suite with an ocean view.

I could second the motion for Tambor Tropical…

Totally UN-“all inclusive” but very Costa Rica like. Nice double floor beautiful gazebo-like cabinas, maybe five of them built around a pool with Fine wood. GREAT bar/restaurant. Laid back fishing village, the bar on the pier is happening social place as well. $200 a night upper levels that catch the breeze – No A/C, not needed w/good fans; no phone, no tele but full bar/kitchen with silverware/ dishes/ wineglasses/ ect. Fantastic Decks, feels like a tree house. Beach great for walking, not that great for swimming. Swell pool at the hotel.

There is a Barcelo down the beach a mile or so, people walk between los Delphines and Tropical for drinks, with a little river to cross at low tide, easy. One of the most superb natural areas in CR is near on el cabo.

A couple of nights there is one of my favorite memories of Costa Rica.

I highly recommend both The Parador and the Si Como No in Manuel
Antonio. I've stayed at both hotels numerous times. Both are excellent (but very expensive). They both have websites. They do not, however, have
golf, as the Cariari does.

The Marriott Los Suenos just north of Jaco is also excellent, and there is
a golf course there.
