as i like to do thing on cheap side i took a bus from Coca cola station
at 7.30 am and it cost 1440 col. one way.nice scenery and 2 hours later i am there.place is bacically one street a mile long.
new construction everywhere and prices in USD around 200 000 and 300000.shit,for this money i could stay in US.
local life looks slow,no traffic, most activity is on the beach where
plenty of surfers.not much of anything but fun anyway.
one supermarket and prices pretty much like in US.
bottled water between 300 and 500 col.
i try lunch at fast place and it runs 4$.
local art and art galleries arent cheap and nothing for my taste.
no,i didnt try bars as i left after lunch.

ok i will be the first..its jaco beach ....your report is pretty much right on , on what you will find during the daytime hours...i for one hate the town and with a new wingman with me on my next trip...he will want to make the drive to jaco...as we all want to check it out !! we all think, got to go where there is a place that is like the delrey ..more girls ...maybe hotter...the beach....why not ..i should check it out ...we all fall into that trap...but i am surprized you didnt stay for the night time action....really the only reasons to go to that town...but it easy to diss the town when only staying during the day....

I agree Jaco ain't the greatest but that is pretty sad to make a special trip to Jaco for the Beatle Bar... BTW, I've heard they aren't doing so well.

I find jaco to be a good change of pace for a few days if your trip is 6 days or longer the beach the nightlife the beatle bar all combined make it worth a 3 dollar bus ride. try the atv for some day time fun awesome views

Alex-
I gotta think that you missed the main reason for going to Jaco, which is the nightlife. In the daytime, everyone is resting from staying up all nite partying.
Although I don't really go to the BB anymore, as far as them being slow, I think there is some general trend going on. My friends that have three restaurants say biz has been way off, not just seasonally off. Also at the beginning of Dec., the Monkey and the Jungle were completely dead on a Friday night. We were the only couple dancing at the Monkey at 1:30am, and that was alcohol induced.
Two other real estate developers also said that their activity has tanked this year. So, altho there are tons of new condos being built, my guess is that they are being picked up by speculators, who may find themselves holding onto them for awhile and not realizing the incredible profits that had been going on. Of course, this is just my observation.
