As every one told you arenal is the best. I would only go if you have some time, there are so many things to see and do you at least need 2 days there. If you do not have, the time hit Irazu. I was just there they get you there fast in the morning before the clouds cover it. In addition, you are back in time for an afternoon session at Zona blue.

Arenal was amazing.

To get there, I grabbed one of the drivers from in front of the Delrey. I set it up the day before. He charged me $100 but he had a van and showed up with a dozen Imperials and some water in a cooler for me. We were able to drop down the back seat and lay down like we were in a bed the whole way. Once we got there, we stayed for 2 nights and three days. I did have to pay $125 for a hotel van to bring us back. We could of paid less but we would of had to share the van with people we didn't know...Didn't want that.

It was awesome swimming in the pool in Tabacon at night being able to watch the volcano.

La Fortuna does have a couple great little bars to do something at night.

I did the Greyline Bus to Arenal about two years ago. Sure it's a ride, but we did Tabacon Springs first where I saw many mongers with smoking hot ticas on overnight trips. It's a hot spring bath area heated by the Arenal Volcano. The buffet was wonderful too!

We went to watch the Arenal Volcano on a Sunday night about 10PM. The skies cleared at night so that I could hear the eruption and then see bright orange-red lava pour out of the volcano. It's one of my great memories.
