I will be there for a bit of time in May. Sailing, one of my passions. I would like to know if anyone here has been to Golfito, what the place is like, and if there are any clubs where one might find a beautiful Tica ? Ummm, Also if it isn't too much trouble, what beaches near Golfito are truly amazing, if any.

thanks !!!!!!!!!

The big thing to do in Golfito is sportfishing and boating. For nightlife, gringos hang at Latitud 8 Sports Bar in the center of town. Club Latino, at the north end of town, has dancing, particularly on weekends and is popular with ticos. The closest beach to Golfito is Playa Cacao, accessible by a short boat ride, but not the cleanest water since it is near the port. Playa Zancudo, about 15km south of Golfito is supposed to be much nicer with a 6km long dark sand beach and gentle surf. If you go there at night check out the bio-luminescent plankton by waving your hand through the water. But the most famous beach in this area would have to be Pavones, 15km further south. It is supposed to have some of the best surfing in CR with a LONG left break that can reportedly give a 3 minute ride. Personally, I'm lucky if I stay up for 3 seconds.

I've been there several times for sportfishing. Good luck on finding a hot chica - slim pickins from what I've seen. Partied with the locals at La Bomba a couple of years ago, until a fight cleared the place out. At the south end of town, Las Gaviotas has an open air bar where you might try on a weekend. It's not much of a party town. If there's an US ship in port, the girls will be more visible. The post above covered Latitudes and the beaches. If you get across the Golfo Dulce, Puerto Jimenez has alittle more nightlife, but nothing compares to San Jose. Duk
