Hmm... I haven't seen any reports on this place. Has any one been?
Is it worth going? I saw this tour trip for only 40 bucks which
includes tour, nature hike, hot springs fed jacuzzi, transportation
back and forth, and dinner!

Looks like a bargain to bring a Tica to, for a day outing.

It makes me wonder about a lot of springs that run from out of the
mountains... if those mountains still contain lots of gold. ;)

I've never been, but it does look like an interesting side trip for my next vacation in July.

That $40 only includes transportation from their hotel in Monteverde. For some reason, Monteverde does not seem to be a big monger destination around here, although personally I love that area. I had heard about this place before but traveled by a different route to MV and so did not get to check it out. You don't have to go to Monteverde to go there though. It is in a small town of Las Juntas de Abangares, which is just a few kilometers off the Pan American hwy on the way to Guanacaste and Liberia (the "middle route up to Monteverde before the road turns to shit). I'm not sure I would make a special trip there if I wasn't on my way to someplace else but if you want to go on a tour from San Jose, it will run about double the rate that the MV homestay place quoted or $80. Here is another outfit that offers it from San Jose http://www.acrtours.com/tours/The_Gold_Tour.shtml. You can also try this link for more info on the mines in general http://www.1costaricalink.com/elresidente/fa-11-12-2001.htm
