Jeb Bush as NFL boss? He's had talks
ASSOCIATED PRESS

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said he was privately approached about his interest in becoming the NFL's next commissioner.

Bush said Tuesday the issue was discussed at a recent meeting with Patrick Rooney Sr., according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Rooney's brother is Dan Rooney, owner of Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers and co-chair of the search committee looking to replace the retiring Paul Tagliabue.

"I met with Mr. Rooney and I said, `I'm doing my job until I'm finished and then I'm going to consider other things,'" Bush told the newspaper.

Bush has said he will not run for president in 2008. His final term as governor ends in January, although he doesn't believe NFL officials will hold the position open until then.

Tagliabue, who has been commissioner since 1989, announced in March his decision to retire. Although he originally set a July 31 deadline to be out of the job, he has indicated his willingness to stay on longer.

Jmac,

The Governator is from Austria, a country that was “aquired” by Germany in WWI and WWII…

The BBC.CO.UK writes:
Quote:
When the Wehrmacht marched into Austria in 1938 (and Nazis took over the country 'from below') they fulfilled one of Hitler's life-long ambitions, the 'return' of German-Austria to the Greater German Reich.

OBTW…The Gov is up for re-election this fall, he’ll be a bit busy… :D

I really hope that Bush isn't a legit canidate for the position. Going from Tagliabue to Bush would be like night and day. Please no!

If it keeps Jeb Bush from stealing the US Presidency election via Diebold I am all for making him a commissioner of something useless like Sports.

Actually, while he's got a tough job ahead of him, his chances of re-election may not be so dire. First of all, you can only put so much stock in poll numbers. Remember that Bush was way down in the polls at this point in 2004. Also, I believe Schwarzenegger's poll numbers have actually been trending up as of late although they still remain low. Finally, never underestimate the ability of Democrats to commit fratricide or to put forth their weakest candidate. In polls asking Californians whether they're satisfied with Schwarzenegger's performance, he scores poorly. But in direct match-ups with the possible Democratic candidates he doesn't do that badly. He's still slightly behind the leading candidate (the state controller) but he is even or ahead of Carl Reiner and Warren Beatty. Personally, I'm more of a Jesse Ventura fan.

Also, I'd love to see Jeb become NFL commissioner since that would hardly be a position from which to build up a base for a 2008 or 2012 presidential run. There are no NFL teams in Iowa or NH and not much of public policy or political platform in it unless steroids in the NFL suddenly re-emerges as a major national issue. Having had 2 Bushes as president are more than enough.

A) Austria coauthored WWI with Germany, it was not really a takeover by Germany. They were Allies when crap started in Eastern Europe.

B) Hitler Was half Austrian, barely any German blood in him

C) Arnold must not be screwing up that much even though his polls are low. If he were he would be on FOx news and CNN more often. I find that when politicians are doing somehting right they get no publicity on the news, but do one thing wrong and God bless the liberal media, they will put it to good work.

D) Jeb is my gov. and I have no feelings one way or another. Could be better but could be alot worse. Ehhh. As for the NFL, well I dont think anyone in their right mind would want that headache right now.

IMHO, shoot my thoughts down at your leisure
