| Post subject: | Hotel Suggestions from anyone? Jacuzzi and Tips on beaches? |
Hello, First, this is my first post as I have been lurking a bit, thanks to everyone for the great info. I simply wanted some advice on accommodations. I'm planning a trip between 2005-MAY-05 and 2005-MAY-09; I'd be in the region for some business and wanted to spend some time relaxing. I've been considering el presidente thus far mainly because of the Jacuzzi in the master suite even after hearing about some of the recent policy changes which I have no problems with. Does anyone know of any other hotels that have a similar Jacuzzi available within the rooms, or any possible wait of negotiating a lower price? While I wouldn't mind shelling out $280 per night, any discount or savings would go to a better cause (if you know what I mean). My only other requirements are some form of safe/box in room or at the desk. Side note, not looking for GFE but any suggestions on locale to visit a nice beach or tour and tips on convincing/negotiating for a companion on one day? Don't exactly want to spend all 5 days in the room, just close to it... |

I'm not sure of the exact rate on the master suite at the Presidente but I believe as a CRT member you can probably get it at a discount over their published $280/nt rate. The ever popular Sportsmen's Lodge just added a penthouse suite that goes for $250/nt and has its own jacuzzi. Not having seen either suite, I can't recommend which one to choose but for what its worth the Presidente's suite is 1500sf has 2bdrms w/kingsized beds and a 57"TV along with the 8-person jacuzzi "swimming pool". The new suite at the SL is "only" 900sf has "only" 1 master bdrm w/kingsized (there is also a queensized bed in the loft), it "only" has a 42"TV but it is HD and is hooked up to a state of the art surround sound system (as is the internet hook-up). The SL suite also has a full kitchen. Man that is a tough choice. As for where to go and what to do, I'm normally one for getting out and seeing the country but you only have 5 days. If you did decide to spend it all staying (and partying) each night in SJ, you wouldn't have to spend all 5 days in your room unless you chose to. There is plenty to fill your time just in the greater SJ area including w/w raft trips and zipline tours, volcanos and coffee farms, butterflys and waterfalls, for starters. If you want to go to a beach, Jaco is the closest although not te nicest. But it has the best nightlife and you won't need to take any "sand" with you unless you want to. For other beaches, you might want to bring a little sand. Its not hard to find a girl to accompany you, but I'd advise you try them on for size first with a s/t date. |
