I've only stayed at copacabana in Jaco and I also know the deal at Del Rey & Presidente in San Jose. Anyone have any advice on other hotels in Jaco or near the gulch in SJ?

All the Marriotts. I've stayed at all three. No fees.

You forgot to mention a few things, Corky.

Noisy area with the Heredia and Alejuela bus terminals.

Not convenient to the gulch.

Not a good part of town you have to take a taxi at night.

Everyone has their own preference but I think there are better values near the gulch.

There is a Tico owned hotel called Mango Mar on the beach in Jaco. Reasonable rates and rooms with AC. I don't know if they charge a chica fee, but the way it is set up, it would probably go unnoticed coming in at night. I'll try to do a little more research here in Jaco.
