AmericaWest now has only one flight weekly, Fri, returning Sat, to SJO from Phoenix. I suspect that USAir, the new owner, will route all other traffic through Charlotte. They go to Liberia. That leaves only Taca as going direct from the West Coast, except for summer charters. |

Even though they are going to use the US Air name America West is actually the surviving entity of that meager. The news is equally bad for the east coast fliers. US Air has stopped direct FLL - SJO service and now route you thru Charlotte. AA & TACA responded by upping there fares MIA - SJO dramatically, |

I've been looking at fares for february and I'm shocked. Even weekday fares from the DC thru MIA to SJO are $800... I guess I'll wait till the last minute, because I can't imagine people booking at that rate.. AA is being greedy and it is up to the consumer to balk at those rediculous fares.... If the fare stays that high and tey price CR out, I may go straight to Rio. |

I'm boycotting CR. When the trip surpasses 8 hours or $500, the Philippines is the better deal. Lower living and entertainment costs more than make up for a couple $$ higher airfare. Freaky freelancers and intensely sincere amateurs. Many times I've walked into the BM and wished it were the LA Cafe on the Manila waterfront. Or the ZB and wished it were Skyline Health Club. Next month I'm going to try the Sunflower Disco in Lahug, Cebu. Japanese and Korean EFL students! |

I know what you mean. When I booked my first flight, or began looking at prices it seemed really cheap. Like 400$ CDN from New York..Now half the flights are 600$ US. In the end after a week of girls in CR, its cheaper to just go to Manila/Angeles City, plus your experience is likely better off with the girl sticking around all day. I just dont get it really.. |

TACA fares have come down for the first 3 months of the year. I got something under $500 for Managua, leaving the Fri before Pres Day Wknd, and was surprised to see, from the seating chart, that the plane was still mostly empty. AA too has come down, if you can bear going through MIA. |

Interesting, I am flying down on Dec. 28 (WED).....cut to 1 day? I don't think so. I just checked again, Yes the schedule is almost completely booked from now until Jan. 5. but they are still flying more than 1 day. |

I was checking for February, and by telephone to AmWest. There's no doubt about what I was told. I do see daily flights from Phoenix on the USAIR web site for February. Also via Philadelphia and Charlotte. |

That is when the merger is almost complete between US Airways and America West. Seems in that time frame, things are changing.....for the worst it seems. |

Air to MIA is rediculous for sure! I'm stuck in SJ cause I refused to pay $1000 to return home. By waiting till Jan.10 the fare drops to $400w/tax. US Air is bankrupt for good reason I'm sure. After all,why else would they stop flying a route(FLL-SJO) that always had full planes. |

I noticed that. I was looking at MIA and JFK as departpure locations and they were both the same price? Actually in alot of instances MIA was MORE then JFK. What happened? I remember when I was looking at MIA before prices were 300$ CDN? |
