I am looking forward to another 2 weeks in CR during the first half of February. I wish to try something new while exploring previously untraveled regions in Guanacaste and the Southwest. I checked out the Sansa Air website and came across the Sansa AirPass. On the surface, it appears to be a good deal ($199 for 1 week and $299 for 2 weeks of unlimited domestic travel). I did a search on the Board to see if anybody has experience with this promotion, but came up dry. I sent an e-mail to Sansa with 3 questions about the AirPass, but have not heard back from them:

I would appreciate any additional information you could send me on the SANSA Air Pass program. I have a few questions:

1. Must all travel be accomplished within the specified one or two week period? Or is the Airpass valid for 7-days/14-days worth of travel over a longer period?

2. Is a departure tax assessed on each domestic flight?

3. Are reservations required for all flights made with the Airpass?

Before I invest in a long distance call, can anybody help me out here?

Thanks,

BD,
I have flown w/Sansa numerous times between SJO and Liberia and Tamarindo. Due to the length of my trips, I have never gotten the Air Pass, but I did check into it.

From what they told me, you MUST complete all travel within the 7/14 day period.

You do NOT pay the departure tax at all while you're flying between towns. That's only necessary to pay when you're flying OUT of the country.

You must make reservations for every flight you want, and it's always based on availability. This is the big one. During the peak season, flights book up quick. There's only 12 seats on their planes. If you know your itinerary ahead of time, try to book all flights ahead of time to avoid any problems. Most flights run from $50 - $70 each way, so if you plan on hopping around the country, the Air Pass could save you a chunk of money.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Mikey-B.

Mikey,

That is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, very much! I guess if I want to use it on my next trip in February, I better start my planning now.

Absolutely!!! I've already got 7 seats (for me and 6 wingmen) on a flight in Feb from SJO to Tamarindo on a Friday, then back to SJO on Sunday (the 1st weekend of Feb - Superbowl Weekend). I checked (2 days ago) to see if there were any seats left on those flights (for our chica's), and they were booked solid. We're in the high season now through April, so anything you want to do, you must reserve as far in advance as possible.
Good Luck.
