Got really busy upon my return from CR in Oct. But as always I wanted to post my review from the SL.

I can never say enough about the atmosphere of this place. It just like home in a much more exciting enviroment! The staff takes care of you and are second to none. I stayed on Oct. 17 then out to Limon for a few days (Puerto Limon and Puerto Viejo)and back to SJ late on the 22through the 27. The 23 happened to be my birthday and the staff had a cake and all joined in on the celebration. What a hell of a grand time. Comfortable rooms, Great food and just an all out classy establishment. Bill's operation to me is "hands down" the best in SJ! I cant wait to head back down and see the new wing of the hotel. And for all the newbies looking for accomodations, look no further. away from the hustle of the city, no crazy traffic, no bus exhaust, just peace and quiet in a tranquil setting like no other. Stay once and you will return! Thank you Sportsmens Lodge for anothe great trip!

You're right about the SL. There's no reason to look any place else. I'm curious, though. Since I'll be there early next year for my birthday, how should I interpret your statement that the staff had a cake and all joined in the celebration? Who blew out your candles?

I also liked the SL. I was shocked when the front desk address me by my first name and the funny part is that we never even spoke a word before that. The hotel is cozy and quaint. Too bad the walls are not soundproofed. Other than that it was cool.
