This may have already been answered but I could not find it anywhere. I plan on making my first visit to CR dec 8-dec15. Is there any advantage to staying at the Del Ray the first 2-3 nights or so, then staying at the sportsman lodge the last three nights? just wondering....

Mix it up. Del Rey has a $10 chica charge.

Dcmontgo- I think the breakdown you presented would be PERFECT for a newbie trip. Nothing compares to staying at the Del Rey on the maiden voyage and would recommend nothing else as a first stay... Having the second half of your stay at the Sportsmans provides you with a different view of the lifestyle... a little more laid back, much better service, more personalized and friendly and slower-paced. You'll also be walking distance from several MP's, including the one and only ZB, so it will allow you an opportunity to see a little more than just Blue Marlin/Key Largo.

IMHO, I would recommend you stay with your gameplan, you'll have a blast!
