OK all you "Tarjeta Credito" experts. I currently have the American Express Optima Platinum along with my American Express Green Card. My last four trips to CR have been on Delta. Currently AMEX offers 15,000 bonus miles for applying for the American Express Delta Sky Miles Platinum. Is there any reason why I should not apply for the Delta Card and the cancel my Optima Card? I know there is a higher annual fee, but that would be reduced to $80 because I have my other AMEX card. Also, what should I guy with good credit and low account balances be paying for interest these days? |

don't ever carry an American Express card balance you can also add 5 members to the card and get 5,000 miles. It's a great deal and you don't ever have to use them or provide any personnel information. just give them five fictitious names and you'll get the mileage |

I know nothing about Optima but got the Amex-platinum a couple months ago, along with the deal was a free companion ticket anywhere(domestic) each year upon renewal, plus 10k miles/yr. if I spend $25k on the card per year(easy for me with my business). And then they've given double miles on everything for 6 months, I'm racking up the miles, hard deal to beat IMO-if you fly Delta (or Continental) go for it. Pay mine off every month, don't even know the interest rate. |

I've had an AMEX Delta Skymiles card for years. I recently downgraded from a Platinum to a Classic. The annual fee dropped from $135 to something like $65. The interest rates are around 16.9%. The companion ticket for having a Platinum card is good BUT it does have some restrictions and the paid ticket must meet certain costs to qualify. These are based on which zone in the U.S. you are flying to/from. It will also expire 1 year from issue. The platinum card has some extra benefits for a frequent traveler but I never used them. The Gold and Classic offer some of the same benefits as the Platinum (double miles on Delta purchases, etc). I have called them regarding disputes on at least 3 occasions and they were all handled promptly and in my favor.
