ok just got back from my trip and stayed at the courtyard.
To clear everything up about the tica fees (there are none!)

I would say its the nicest courtyard I have ever stayed at (I travel all the time for work and it was very very nice)

Very secure hotel with many many securty guards walking around.
Right next to the Outback steakhouse and about a 20 minute drive to the Del Rey

Only thing that I was surprised about was that there is a toll to the Courtyard (its only about 40 cents) but still didnt know about it.

I agree. Nicer than the one in the States. No fee. Cabs were an additional expense. No problem bringing them in at 2am 2 at a time. Mine was free on Marriot points. Yours probably was too. 5 nites around Sept 1. Good time !!!

Were the women from the Del Rey willing to take the long ride back to the hotel?

What would a cab cost for this trip?

yeah I used my points also, normal hotel rates are like 130-170 or something that was posted on the door. You know the drive might have been 15 minutes at night when theres no traffic and 20-25 minutes with traffic.

That may be the rack rate, but you can get lower rates (in the 100-130 range). One company I worked for had a cheap rate of $80. They have a decent breakfast spread and are next to a strip mall with all sorts of restaurants.

I've stayed there serveral times and plan on staying there next month. The rate is $119.00. The hotel right next to a strip shopping center w/ 10 restaurants. It's closer to the DR than the Marriott by the airport. I met 2 Ticas during the day at the DR and asked them to come by w/ a friend at 10:00PM. My friends thought they were hot. They showed up at 11:00 after my buddy and I left for some action. So, my other buddy took all 3 to his room for some fun. It appears the cab driver took them to the wrong Marriott. Shit happens. I've had no problem bringing Ticas back. However, I always give them money for a cab. Yes, it is the nicest Courtyard I've stayed at also. Did I mention it in the nicest part of town, Escazu.
