Taxis are authorized exceptions to the 9pm driving ban. Uber is not explicitly listed as an exception.

But, my advice is to be wherever you plan to spend the night (your hotel) by 8 pm. Your public transport options become scarce in the hour before 9 pm.

I got back last week and used Vanessa at Shuttlebug and could not give a bigger shoutout.

The prices were very reasonable and she is helpful in so many ways.

Here are some highlights.
1. Texted her when I landed and when I went outside after customs she had a sign waiting for me.
2. She provided all sorts of tips and suggestions for my stay.
3. Very easy to talk with, very easy on the eyes (she is taken by the way) and punctual.
4. Took some detours, whether to get drinks, bathroom or pickup fish for the trip home.

I think she would actually be a great wingman as she understands our needs and desires and is very personable.

Here is her WhatsApp 506-8518-5725

Treat her well guys as she is a wealth of information.

I forgot to mention the the help with my COVID test.

Since the USA changed the rules, we had to find a place within 24 hours of the flight.

She searched and recommended a place that is national since it would be easier to contact them if the test did not come in time. So she detoured, took me there as we were heading back from Jaco and within a few hours had my results to get me home.

Nocoguy10 was right. Vanessa at shuttle506@gmail.com is a terrific driver and now has a brand-new Tucson with roof racks for surf boards and lots of room inside. Loves the drive from the airport to Jaco.

I just spent the month of January 2023 in Costa Rica and used Vanessa several times, for trips from the airport to Jaco, Jaco to San Jose and San Jose to the airport. It is great to have a driver that speaks English and Spanish both well.

She now has internet in her car so you can surf while riding to your destination.

From airport to hotel she was charging $30 last year and I gave her $40.
On a trip for a day at the beach, she charged me $160 and I gave her $180 plus lunch and snacks.
Now that I know her I also bring boxes of chocolates from the States.
Hope this gives you some idea. I do not know what others give as tips, maybe more.

Thanks so much! Really appreciate the input. And do you pay in USD or Colones?

Dollars. Bring good, clean $1, $5, $10, $20 notes. No tears or bits of the edges missing.
