Gents, Going down on 25th and need your advice.

How does the Morazon compare to the Balmoral?
How about the Europa...which is better in terms of decent rooms and beds? What about hidden fees?

Last trip to San Jose I stayed at the Morazon for 2 nights. Decent service and most importantly they had good firm mattresses. I've got a lower back injury from the military so something better than a straw bed helps.

Hated the sagging dust filled bed at the Del Rey.

I have stayed at the Morazan and it was fine. At the time, there were no chica fees, but heard that they sometimes charge a $5 fee now.

I have never stayed at the Balmoral, but heard they have a huge chica fee and don't particularly like mongers at the hotel.

I have heard good things about the Europa, but have not stayed there either.

I have stayed at both.Couple of years ago I would always stay at Hotel Balmoral. Rates were decent, rooms were clean, and I felt the level of service was adequate. Then, apx. 2002, I saw the start of problems. Chica fees. High priced rooms if I arrived without reservations. The "Official Taxi" awaiting in parking area wanted to charge $25 to take me to the Airport. I switched to the Morazon and I am content for now. No Chica Fees. If I get up in the middle of the night, I can go to their Bar and (1) Pick up a chica (2) Get a meal (3) Get a drink (4) Gamble in their Casino (4) Sit. Can't do this at Balmoral. Actually, the Hotel Balmoral level of service degraded to much less than I have verbalized. Skip the crap and book with Hotewl Morazon. One Mans Opinion..

Suggest you stay @ Morazan. The Balmoral chica fee I think is something like $ 15 as I recall and the breakfast sucks.

I also would pick the Morazzon over the Balmoral. Check out the Presidente also, it is directly across from the Balmoral, I highly recommend this place as many other CRT vets.

If those are your only two choices then the Morazan it is. Balmoral chica fee I think is now $20 0r $25-they really dont want mongers.
What about Presidente/SL/DR/Europa/GranVia ? All sound choices depending on who you talk to.

Thanks mucho guys.

took your collective advice and will stay at Morazon.

Presidente's a no go...they're always booked when I call. SL is also usually booked...seeing as it's a very popular place. Don't know much about Europa (yet) but I'll walk by there when I get the chance.

Still one question. I've yet to see the rooms at the Presidente.
How does their rooms compare with Morazon in terms of bed, space, cleanliness?

When I stayed at rhe Morazan, the bed was a queen size and comfortable. My room was always cleaned daily and the staff was nice. They did not fall all over you and kiss your ass, but they were helpful. The TV was the best I have had in a standard room in any CR hotel. About a 25' (instead of the 13" and 19" TV's in other places. Also, it is on a stand high in a corner, like in the hospital. Overall, a good place.

Definitely stay at the Morazon. Call Alanso and ask for the "Soprano" special discount rate!

Sorry guys, I just couldn't resist. I was checking out the old board the other day, kind of like a person who passes an accident on the road and just has to look. Wow, thank God for CRT.
