| Post subject: | Hotel Morazan Reservations? |
Is there a website or phone number to reserve directly with the Hotel instead of going thru these booking services? I have searched on the internet and can't find one. |

Unless the Morazan has changed it's phone number recently or uses 2 different numbers the phone number I use to contact them is 506-222-4622. |

try this 506 221-9083 from a costa rica links page I tried this number and it's a wrong number. A tico answers the phone and "no habla ingles" & then hangs up. However, this is the number that Morazon posts on their user unfriendly website. |

The correct number is 506 222-4622. I called them earlier today to see if there is a room sept. 7-11 but was told to call back after 3pm local. I can get air fare easily but having trouble finding a room at the often mentioned places, DR SL Pres. Maybe I'll try the Hotel Doral mentioned in another thread. Zack |

The Morozan has a big sign up saying new 35.00 rate, don't know any details but might be worth asking about. |

Try the Hotel Gran Via or Hotel Europa on Calle Central, ( not the Radison). |

For all those wary of getting their reservations bumped, a hotel doesn't normally lower their rates when they find themselves constantly overbooked. The Morazon used to be THEE place to stay before they started overbooking (and becoming associated with a certain individual, who probably ended up in the long run doing them more harm than good). It may now be THEE place to turn to when the other places that CRT'ers have thronged to become full up themselves or for guys that want to save themselves $10-15/nt over Pres or SL rates while still staying in the Gulch.

I just checked into the Morazan. I had the ad from the Tico Times for $40 ($35 plus tax). I don't think I needed the ad. The front desk said that is the standard rate. They also said that they would honor my res, but that they are oversold by 5 rooms. So if anybody is checking in today, do it soon! The Morazan is my favorite, although I like the Pres. Too bad they can't improve their reservation system. Sayed for the last two nites at the Sportsmens Club. Three of us shared the Presidential Suite for $105 per nite pllus tax. One bed and two pull out couches. Economical, but only one bathroom. Rooms are scarce this weekend. My buddy got into the Balmoral for $80. |

Too bad they can't improve their reservation system. Damn, I guess you better scratch what I just said. Why wouldn't a business that is at 100% raise their rates to the point that demand equaled their supply of rooms (don't tell the Pres or SL I said that)? An extra $5-10 per night per room with no fewer rooms sold could really add up and a reputation for not always honoring reservations can really cost them when they're not full and people shy away even with the low rate. If they raised their pretax rate to $40-45 and reduced their demand to the point they were usually full but not overbooked, they'd still be cheaper than the other hotels in that area (except for the Asia) and I would be more inclined to take the chance of reserving with them. Put another way I'd rather pay $5-10 more to stay at the Morazon and know my room reservation was secure or else try to book as somewhere else like the Prez for $14 more and be confident that they would honestly tell me if they were already full.
