Hello gents,

After doing a search on the forum I still can't find any answers to the following question:

Are there any rooms in the Amon Plaza that you think are more desireable than others, and if so, why?

This hotel is fairly large, with something like 63 standard rooms, 21 junior suites, 3 master suites and 3 "estudios" with single beds. I'm sure all the rooms are fairly nice, but I'm looking for a room with a little something special to it. Balconies? Relative proximity to pool? Rooms away from street?

The only amenities I really want over and above the usual would be a balcony (I'm a romantic), a king bed and distance from noise (elevators, ice machines etc.)

As I've never seen the place, I really don't know what to expect. Any suggestions for a room number I should request?

Thank you all.

Here's a partial answer to your question.

I stayed in a standard room. It had a king bed, it had carpet and a regular bathtub with shower.

It faced the street, but it was quiet because there was not much automobile traffic and no loud pedestrains.

It did not have a balcony.

It was 15 feet from the elevator, but there was no noise coming into the room. The hotel did not have a bunch of drunks coming and going at all hours of the night and the hallways were carpeted.

I did not bring a chica to my room. I wanted some rest at night and that's what I got.

I've stayed there and would highly recomend it. Request a room on the fourth floor and the hotel is very quiet. There's not much difference in the rooms between the suites and regular rooms. They have an excellent breakfast and the only drawback is you need to take a cab at night to the gulch as there are a lot of Transvestos in Morazn park a few blocks away. Contact Nixon at the casino and as a CRT member you can get a room for $ 75 a night including taxes. Zona Blue is only a block away with the New Fanatasy two blocks away. As far bringing a chica to the room, no problem, just check her in at the front desk. They'll tell you there's a $ 10 chica fee but I was never charged. There's also a good rib place a few blocks away. A lot of Tico business travelers stay there and it has a European flavor to it

I thought that the chidca fee only applied if the lady stayed TLN and joined you for breakfast.
:?

Someone mentioned in another topic that one or two-hour visits were no problem.

Speak to Nixon when you make your reservation. Get a phone card and call him, we get a discount andthey will waive the chica fee. I have heard the junior suites are pretty nice. A couple of new guys had to get a room there in July for two nights until the SL opened up availability.

I just stayed there last week (2nd and 3rd times). I like the hotel very much. It's 1 block from ZB and it's relatively low key. Chicas in room are free. I stayed there at the beginning of my trip and I stayed in the Standard deluxe room. It was perfect..comfortably, clean, good service everything I needed. I also stayed there just this past Sunday but I splurged a little. I stayed in the master Swuite (specifically room 319 & 320) (I think). Two separate bedrooms with a living room in between. All for $175.00. Outstanding room--very comfortably..very good water pressure in the shower and wireless internet worked great.

Anyone have any problems leaving credit card info with Nixon through email??

Also, has anyone gotten a ride from the airport from them and if so how was it? I think the site list the price at $10...is this still correct?

I booked my room through Nixon at least a month ahead of time and as I recall, I didn't even have to provide any credit card info. If I had to I would have absolutely no reservations about that. I met Nixon on my stay there and he is a very nice person. Matter of fact, shortly after I arrived in my room he called me to make sure everything was satisfactory. Good Guy Nixon is. As far as a ride from the airport to Amon just spend the $12 and take a taxi.

I still have not been reimbursed for a mysterious $30 charge that was added to my bill from my stay at the Amon last year. I disputed the charge in person at the hotel and was told it was a Casino add on.

Nixon was not around, but I left contact information and to this date he has never gotten in touch with me.

Check your itemized bill very carefully at checkout and when your credit card statement arrives (The charge did not appear at checkout).
