I should have followed the advice from many on this board regarding Martinair but regrettably didin't. Our flight was set to depart from Miami tonight at 8:40 but has been delayed until 2am which means we don't arrive in CR until 3am local time. Great way to start off a 3 day vacation. Hopefully they'll get it right for the return trip.

I like Martinair but remember it's coming from Amsterdam which can get socked in by weather. I'm curious what their issue was with your flight since it's summer in europe...?

Beautiful female passengers on those martinair flights!

YO Guys:
I've flown Martinair out of Orlando for quite some time and it is true about the delays from Amsterdam but I wonder since they have added so many flights if all are coming from oversea. Does anyone know?

Hey Goal, I see few foxes on the plane. And the flight attendants are HOMELY.....damn, they look like embedded gringa bitchitas.

Roger,

Did you go to the Blue Marlin when you got arrived at 3 am?

I guess all airlines can have delays. I do like the fact that Martinair is direct for me and they serve food & beverages.

I found that the Star Class upgrade on the flight home for $60 made it easier to sleep, wider chair and less chatter from nearby passengers. If you haven't spent it all on chicas, I recommend it.

I know a lot of guys love Martin Air, when they are no problems it is great, remember they only have 1 plane to CR from Miami, if it is delayed or breaks you are screwed. They had a problem on my flight back from CR. 12 hours at the air port untill we could get another flight and the customer service in CR sucked. AA is a little more expensive, but they have a ton of planes if one breaks dowm.

Circus, The B-737 Martin uses now just goes from ORL, MIA and SJO. It stays in that circuit.

circus

Miami Air International operates the flight to SJO from Miami
on behalf of MartinAir.
it is a charter operation. utilizes a Boeing 737-800 I believe.
It is rather provincial not to be web-enabled these days as MartinAir seems to be.

Hey gents,

Great info....damn I'm thinking of booking from Orl to SJO later this month but now having 2nd thoughts. Flights are reasonable apprx 330 direct to SJO round trip and departure times are convenient. For about $40 more I can fly American but connect through Miami- which can be a zoo at times. AA also punishes you with penalty fees for changes or upgrades. MA's only a $75 change fee or a refund.

Question for the vets: Would you go AA or MA?

Is the plane flown by Martin Air pilots or a charter outfit? Is it the latest 737 model or one of the older ones?

martin air is flown from Miami by Miami Air with a 737. i don't know the answer for Orlando. call MartinAir on that one. if AA was hosing everyone in Miami with their fares I would go MartinAIr. if the price was
about the same from Miami i would go for the AAdvantage miles.

Just saw a AA fall flight special on cheapflights.com for $126 round trip from Orlando to San Jose. Damn, that's cheap. Monday thru Thursday flights only, 3 day minimum stay, 30 day maximum stay. Sept through November travel. Sale ends Sept 30.

Let's see, that's $175 less than Martinair for 3 extra hours of travel time. However, that extra dinero will get you 4 sessions at Zona Blue and drinks OR 8 sessions at Oasis with lunch at macchu picchu OR three to four merry go round rides with the working girl of your choice.

I think I could do a 3 night trip for less than $500 and have my brains phucked out. Shazaam!!!

Decisions, decisions...

AA all the way. Less than $400 from Tampa or $225 out of Miami. Why risk the delay with an airline with so few planes. The only problem seems to occur on the return. Barely enough time to get through customs and run to your gate with only minutes to spare. Take only carry-on luggage and this will save at least 25-30 minutes. Just my two cents, But has worked 4 times without missing a flight. AA will book you on the next flight for free if there is room. Become a AA advantage member and receive your frequent flyer miles, It will pay off in the end. And no, I don't work for AA. Or you can take US air out of Ft. Lauderdale (RT) for $125. Non-Stop. But keep reading the newspapers about there stability as this airline could fold if you book too far in advance.
