My Favorite is the Four Seasons because it's the most luxurious hotel in Costa Rica. |

I can't believe anyone would stay at the 4 Seasons. The ONLY place to stay downtown is the Ritz Carlton. |

Latinoheat and Ham-Solo rave about the Hotel Asia, the bars on the windows make them feel right at home. ![]() |

You Hotel Asia guys are a bunch of rich K*ds enjoying your conspicuos consumption. What's wrong with bench #2 at Morazan Park, where I always stay? Unlike you, I get to know the country; mingle with the real people on the street. Of all trans-genders. |

Gopher, I decided to no longer stay at bench #2 at Morazon Park after I was molested by some transvesty named Ginger. Dildo Man |

Now DD: Don't say anything bad about Ginger. He loaned me half a cigarette last year, and let me hug on his tits. If the goin' gets rough on bench #2, bribe the doorman at the Holiday Inn; he'll reserve the bush behind the cab stand for you. |

Gopher, Do they offer room service to the bush behind the cab stand ? How about a continental breakfast? Dildo Man |

Blaze, All kidding aside... You need to be more specific, particularly if you're going to take the lazy route and ask others to do your research for you. What price range are you looking at? What amenities do you require? Do you want to be right in the heart of the action, or do you prefer a location that is a bit more serene while still being within a $2.00 cab ride to the action? Are we talking San Jose or some other city? Use the search function to look up reviews of the following: Hotel Del Rey - Home of the Blue Marlin Bar, chica-friendly would be an understatement, but they charge around $10.00/visit/guest (chica). Hotel Presidente - A perennial favorite, great service, the new rooms are great, chica-friendly. Sportsmen's Lodge - the latest CRT favorite. Fantastic, but book early, as this small boutique hotel seems to be full quite often. Hotel Europa (downtown) - Home of the meetings of the Loyal Order of Water Buffalos, older hotel, nice restaurant, inexpensive, a bit removed from the Gulch. Hotel Morazan - Decent, very close to the action, some problems with reservations reported. Depending upon your budget, needs etc. there is a wide variety of hotels from which to choose. The hotel Asia is a $10.00/night fleabag. Don't listen to these honyocks... ![]() Some like the Holiday Inn and Best Western... the chica fees are too high at both places. Again, do your research via the Search function on this site, and you'll have enough reading for a couple weeks. Welcome to CRT! |

Stayed at Del Rey for two nights... Great bar with lots of action...casino....and many attractive ladies... However, too noisy...and the decrepit beds SUCK....I felt like an arthritis patient with a back injury after I crawled out of the bed in the AM. I'm a mere 170lbs and I swear some 400 lb guy must have slept in the bed the night before because the mattress sagged all the way to the floor. Moreover, the staff wasn't too helpful when it came to giving directions and recommendations for in town destinations. You are also mobbed by panhandlers and beggars as soon as you step outside the door. Their management needs to do something about this silliness. You would think that with all the money they make they could reinvest it in some decent upgrades starting with ortho mattresses....but that just me. Moreover, the all night casino thing could probably end at a decent hour say 2-3AM instead of this all night stuff. New Sleep Inn looks promising in this respect. Alternatives: Hotel Morazon (get side away from street). Sportsmen's lodge, Hotel Castillo, Hotel Don Carlos, and La Amistad Inn. |

Gopher: A honyock is a smart-ass, or interloper. A member of the Peanut Gallery. A silly guy. All the above...but I said it laughing, and mean no offense...ya honyock! Marlon... I wouldn't stay at the HDR either...but don't count on them refurbing the rooms or closing the casino at a "decent" hour. The beggars and street vendors come with the Gulch territory, and are a problem outside the Presidente as well.. When I return to C.R. in August, I plan to try the Europa. However, now that the Presidente has made so many improvements, I think it might be worth checking into, even if the price is somewhat higher than the Europa. I was looking at the Europa precisely because it's a bit removed from the Gulch, but is very close to ZB and other desireable locations. Blaze, again...do some research. Figure your price range and where you want to be, then look it up here using the Search function. There are numerous hotel reviews and posts which mention hotels, but you'll quickly figure out the high and low points of the available hotels. Oh, by the way... Nobody in this thread has yet mentioned the Hotel Gran Via, which is about three blocks down the street from the Presidente. It's been reported that the bathrooms are tiny, but that the hotel is comfortable and a good deal at the price. As with all hotels right in the Gulch, you'll need to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper, but the rooms away from Av. Central are quieter. The third floor restaurant is pretty good, especially for lunch, with lots of locals business. Refrigerators are available upon request, and the hotel is chica-friendly...if one is a bit discreet. Also, there's a little convenience store right next door, making the location more convenient. |
