This will be a spin-off to my upcoming Trip #5 Report, but thought it deserves its own thread.
A little info on myself prior to getting to my main information... I'm a creature of habit. I like more of the same on many levels, and if I think I am happy with my current situation or settings, it's hard to get me to change.
During my first 4 stays in Costa Rica, I stayed in the Del Rey Hotel each time faithfully without exception. I was one of those people that swore by the place, that it was the best and ONLY way to do things right. Needless to say, when I finally broke down and agreed to try the Sportsmen's Lodge at the request of my wingman GetRhythm, I came into the place skeptical and pessimistic, and was just dying to find an excuse to hate the place.
I never found a single excuse.
Let me just say what I have to say in my own way:
Location, building and rooms- Unique and gorgeous. 'Nuff said.
Staff- First off, hats off to Bill and Ray, those guys will go out of their way to ensure you are happy. I can't even remember the number of times that I was taken care of that made my stay just that much more pleasant. I didn't want to be carrying my passport around, so Ray had a miniature laminated copy of my passport made in no time for me. I needed more airflow in my room, so Bill immediately had another fan brought in. I was in a jam and needed some casino chips changed in a hurry and Bill took care of me... These are just a few off the top of my head, and trust me, they are just the tip of the iceberg. The bartenders, security, receptionists, maids... EVERYONE was super cool and went out of their way for you. This is how to run a business.... Hats off to you, Bill.
Atmosphere- Let me tell you, I was floored by the number of beautiful kittens hanging out at the bar at the Sportsmen's at night. Melissa and her cousin Daisy, just to name two, are phenomenally hot (ESPECIALLY Melissa, she was one who got away from me this trip...). Don't disregard this place in terms of talent, there are 8-9.5 in here quite a bit, and they are TONS OF FUN! The bar, as small as it is, was a ton of fun and could get quite rowdy... check out the chicas dancing on the bar in the VIP section... trust me, THAT was a great time! And here's something else about the atmosphere... There's no better word to describe it but CLASSY. I mean, I was impressed that everything was just so cool here... then I go visit the Del Rey, and it just looked so trashy and gross... even though it was practically the same thing (sans the casino). Sportsmen's just does it better, and with so much more style and class. Also, all this with NO CHICA FEES or NUMBER OF CHICA LIMITS (can you say 5 kittens vs. 1 guy? GetRhythm can...) I happened to have brought quite a few kittens over from several places during this trip (ahem, yes, quite a few), and they all unanimously complimented how cool and nice and better this place was than the Del Rey (or anywhere else).
Cost- CRT VIP discount for rooms, NO chica fees, GREAT food and booze selection and very reasonable prices... need I say more?
Overall I totally LOVED this place, and highly recommend it to all you CRT brethren. What can I say, I've eaten my words before, now I shall do it again... this place puts Del Rey to shame, even on fun factor. It's good to go to Del Rey and enjoy the ‘fast lane’ for just a while, grab what you like (and as many as you like, as opposed to Presidente and even Del Rey itself) and go back to the nicer and cooler atmosphere of the Sportsmen's. The honey-bunnies love the change of pace, and provides for an atmosphere where you can get to enjoy yourself a lot more (especially those GFE types).
So yes, GetRhythm, YOU WERE RIGHT, I LOVED THE PLACE... EVEN MORE THAN THE DEL REY!!!
Thanks for reading,
Ruffnutz
