Gentlemen,

US Air has GREAT prices and nonstop flights to SJO from their hubs, Philly and Ft. Lauderdale. But US Air's fares aren't so great for those of us out West.

Generally speaking, as of June 11, other carriers operating nonstop flights to SJO from the Western U.S. can't touch US Air's nonstop prices from its hubs (back East), especially its Ft. L. hub.

But US Airways and America West recently became one and now feature new, direct flights to SJO from Phoenix (America West's hub). This service is so new America West's Web site is not even up to date with it yet, so you should call America West directly. That turned out to be the best deal for me R/T from Vegas: $460 R/T with a short stop in Phoenix, almost a direct line (on the globe) to SJO from here.

I could be mistaken but thought American West has been flying to SJO from Phoenix for quite some time now. I have never looked into it but have spoken to a number of people, in the past 6 months or so, who said they came to CR on America West. Did I get wrong info from them?

AW has been flying nonstop PHX-SJO for at least a year.I have looked at them from Calgary but the multi hour layover is not attractive at all.
