Good news Delta travelers!
You can now book Award Tickets and check availability using your miles to beautiful SJO on Delta's website. (about time)
So much easier than the old system-calling Delta, being put on hold for 20 minutes, then having the agent tell you "no" for every date you want to travel using your miles. :x

Just used the new feature and booked my next "free" trip-
Pura Vida

You can also use Continental.com's award search engine. It shows you 2 months of availability at once in a color coded calender that displays days where standard coach, standard first class, or both are available.

You can use delta miles for Continental awards.

When I used the Delta website I made the reservation using my miles but had to telephone the res center because it was an international ticket. Gave them my credit card number for the tax.

How about this! I have 85,000 miles and can't use them. If I want to use them for CR, I have to fly thru Houston or Atlanta from Miami. Damn, might as well visit family in Dallas area. :?

Not going to happen because...i won't go there! :x

Ace: I guess since Delta has my credit card # on file I didn't have to call.

Grey Ghost: You can always "sell" your miles, (not legally) but they are transferable to a relative or friend. How about it "friend,"? I'll buy you the 2 hottest chicas you can stand for those miles... :D

Technically its legal to sell your miles to a third person, BUT it's against the rules of the frequent flyer program. This is more to dissuade a secondary market of frequent flyer miles for sale (although it exists to some extent already on EBAY and through various internet brokers) than to prevent PacoLoco a cheaper way to get to paradise. And bartering is also technically against the rules, so PacoLoco's offer of chicas would be technically impermissable. As the buyer you risk not being able to fly and as a seller the airline threatens invalidation of all of your miles.

I wrote earlier that I don't tend to use miles for personal travel, although I accrue alot of miles annually, see thread:

So why is my mileage inventory always around 35K to zero? Well I have alot of friends that travel to SJO and are interested in avoiding high fares particularly those chosen at the last minute. Do I charge $384 (otherwise a fair price) for these award tickets? Of course not, that would be against the rules (although there would be no way for the airline to know, unless the seller or the buyer was stupid enough to say something), however I always feel compensated perhaps in other ways for gifting the miles to my friends.
