Post subject: | Local Airline Info |
I am going to travel to Quepose for a few days with some lucky local babe (as of yet to be selected) using one of the local airlines for the 30 min flight. Do I have to make a reservation far in advance or can I call one in the day before I go. |

What time of year and what day of the week? These are small planes and so it doesn't take alot to fill them up. I'm guessing unless you're flying during peak season a day in advance should normally suffice. |

Costa Rican nationals are entitled to a 50% discount on flights within the country. The travel desk at the Del Rey once told me that this no longer applied. I paid the regular price for my Tica. On my next trip I used the travel agency at the Holiday Inn. They told me that it did apply, and booked my lady's ticket at the discounted price. Note that many of the DR girls are not nationals; this is only for Ticas. I've always had great service from the DR travel desk, but I suspect that since they work on a 10% commission (roughly), that its hardly worth their time to book too many discounted tickets. This will save you around $50 round trip from Quepos, and as much as $90 to some other destinations. Another small note, if you are staying downtown: The Pavas airport (using NatureAir) is more convenient than going out to Juan Santamaria (Sansa). |

You should have no problem booking on short notice. Fare is about $75 per person each way. Also, you will need to pay about $5 each for the shuttle bus from the airport into town. Nature Air and Sansa use roughly the same planes except that Nature Airs' Planes have bigger windows for a better view of the scenery. I also agree that the Pavas airport is a better option as you save taxi fare to and from the airport. |

Also, the taxis in Quepos do not like to use meters, so make sure you get an agreement on price BEFORE getting into the cab. Buses do run back and forth from Quepos to the Manuel Antonio Parque. The buses are very cheap. |
