Post subject:  Hotel Rincon de San Jose's chica friendly apartment.

Hi guys,

Starting my third day of my third trip here and it's shaping up to be my best yet. My third trip report will, I think, be my least embarassing.

I'm staying at Rincon de San Jose but in the apartment. When it comes to the rooms Rincon is NOT chica friendly. Families stay there and even if you wouldn't be embarassed bringing a girl half your age (or less) to the front desk, they don't want that. Stay in the apartment and you don't have to bring the girl to the desk.

As for the apartment? Right now this will be a SHORT review. I intend to write a proper one (with photos) either before I depart here or upon return to Canada. Suffice to say Money is definately on the money when he recommends the apartment as an alternative to Sportmens. Guys... I can be real fussy. Just read my multi-hotel review that includes Castillo and you'll see how much I wrote about the very poorly lit bathrooms there and you'll know what I mean.

Keeping the (fussiness) in mind I'll say that anyone that does not enjoy the Rincon's apartment must be out of their freaking mind. It's bigger and nicer than the studio apartment I have in Vancouver. It's only $42.xx per night + tax - based on eight night's stay.

Downstairs is the sale (front room) with leather sofa and puny TV and phone and the half bathroom; kitchen with full size (but empty) fridge and two gas burners. Lots of dishes, a few pots and pans; a table for two. Ahhh. Beat that!

Upstairs is a LARGE bedroom with a huge cast iron bed that isn't going to move no matter how energetic your chica is. (Money: did you and your bud move that bed out into the center of the room? It took me near fifteen minutes of careful exertion to drag it to the wall. Phew!). Of course there is all the natural wood furniture you need to unpack and settle in; a desk with a second phone. (Dial 132 for front desk; local calls are $0.20 each).

The upstairs bath is a full one (of course) and while not brand new like the one in room 23 (NICE!) it's just fine with a stand up shower (no tub) with room for one and a half persons. Water pressure that could peel your skin off! A light above the sink's mirror for easy shaving. (YES!).

The only thing that's missing from a stay there is the atmosphere of the Sportmens. As it's literally a two minute walk away live there if you like, exercise and sleep at the apartment! The best of both worlds eh?

That's all for now. Look for a bigger, better review within a few weeks.

Nice review? Thanks but that's meant to be the brief version. I took about twenty photos which I intend to make use of in a proper review - probably upon return to Vancouver.

Air conditioning? Not even Sportmens has that. The apartment has something better... CROSS FLOW VENTILATION -and fans of course. One in the sale and one in the bedroom. It's great. I don't like humid/hot and right now, May 4th, it's been comfortable. Today is shaping up to be the hottest day though, what with clear skys this afternoon. I expect the breezes are daily though so heat won't become a problem while I'm here.

Chica Chaser have a great time in CR. I can't wait to read your full trip report when you return home. You always write some great posts. Before you leave CR make sure you try a couple of RBC100's tico massage spots on Calle 6. If you can stay at Hotel Nuevo Johnson you can handle Calle 6. Imagine sexo completo for less than $10 USD. Best of luck to you on trip #3. BTW let me know if your job is hiring so I can have enough cash to make 3 trips in 4 months. :D

And Herbf,

Actually my employers are hiring. They can't get enough qualified applicants. Care to drive city bus in Vancouver, Canada? Are you man enough? Heheh.
