Enough can not be said about Bill and his crew (Ray,Karina,Wendi, Margie, Hady, Gustavo and any one else I might of missed at this 6 month young full service (as some have called it) boutique hotel. Great ambience, location, security, personalized service and a welcome home atmosphere.Soon to expand to 24 rooms. I'm sure they'll need them as the reviews come forth. Only c500 taxi ride to the "Gulch" or 4-5 blocks from the DR. Now I"m sure a lot of taxi drivers might not be familar with the term "Sportsmen Lodge" just tell them Hotel Aloki location they'll probably be more familar with that name. I have just completed a 2 wk stay here and everything is fresh on my mind. Being a CRT vip member a standard room only cost $49 plus tax. the hotel is very tica friendly and even host a mixer party every Friday night. Great food and drinks, comp continental breakfast. dont forget to try Alberto's bloody mary "one will not be enough". A great retrieve this place has been for me from ground zero. Now I know no place is perfect and this review would not be genuine with some notes of minor concerned and believe me these few minor concerns did not outweigh my stay here and Bills constant concern for his guest in and outside the hotel perimeters. First concern the showers always has hot water but the hot and cold adjustments took me some time to get just right 2 My ceiling fan always seem to have a loud electrical hum in it, I dont know the maid always seem to set it just right and then no hum 3 Now certainly cant fault any hotel if I decide to party all night and sleep during day hours but thats sometimes my lifestyle and realizing that hotels have more day activity than night well I had to deal with that but also had to deal with the same thing at Prez during construction as well. So there are my thoughts met many CRT members here Haco, Chicagoguy,JD inCT, Sluthhog, Socaltraveler and CHlatinoguy we all had a great time together and will definitly come back to SL Hey Bill y Karina dont forget to name my new room "Por los amantes" Puuuuura Vida |

Whodat wrote: dont forget to try Alberto's bloody mary "one will not be enough". That does it...I have to stay at the SL my next trip to CR (or at least hang out at the bar for awhile)! I've been searching for a great bloody mary in CR for the past seven years. The Hotel BW Irazu and the Hotel Parador in Manuel Antonio both make very good bloody marys, and one of the Admins recommended a place in Escazu that supposedly serves good ones. The Colonial's bloody marys are OK but not great. There's nothing like a couple of great bloody marys to 'take the edge off' from a night of wild partying the previous night. It's hard to find a bartender who makes a great bloody mary, even in the US. I've had many that were just horrible. Most bartenders go through their entire careers without being able to make a great bloody mary. |

Everything I've been reading about the sportsmans is absolutly true.I know because I was there for 2weeks in march. I've been meaning to write a review about this place but I've been too busy working my ass off so that I could get back. I'm happy to say i'll be there 4/28 till 5/03. ![]() True, enough can not be said about Bill and his staff but I just want to mention one thing that realy impressed me on my last night. I had a3:20 pm flight back to orlando and when boarding I was asked if I would give up my seat inexchange for a $250 voucher and a room in a 5 star hotel called Tryp Corobici. I jumped on the deal. So I get to the hotel put my bags in the room and go down to the bar. I had one beer and thought "this is not home". So without even finishing my beer I'm in a taxi back to the SL. Everyone is surprised to see me back.I explain what happend and have a seat at bar when in walks a hot 20 y/o tica named Cynthia. She sitsdown next to me with a big smile and I'm thinking about how much money I have left after 2 weeks of serious parting. Not much. Then Bill brings out some dice games to play. They were alot of fun and a great ice breaker. After about an hour Bill sees how much fun we're having and asks if I'm interested in Cynthia. I said sure but I'm low on cash and my room is a long ways from here. He gives me a ![]() That was the end of the best two weeks of my life. That is just one of the things Bill did for me while I was there. Purda Vida Getdown |

My eye caught that Cynthia one night as well really cute But my attention got diverted . I never forgot how cute she looked. I later asked Bill about her and he said she frequents the SL but our crossings would never match for next two weeks O well maybe next time |
