Let me start by summing up this review “you have to stay here”. Now let me tell you why. First this is my first posting ever. I have never had anything to say that I thought everybody did not all ready know. I have been coming to CR for 7 years, and have been here about 30 times in that time span. I hate those that call themselves experts, for only the natives are, but their are many that are experienced at being here. I am comfortable to use that term. I have stayed all over San Jose, based on many others information. Did the Del Rey, to loud and costly, for no added benefit. Did the Presidente, to many times to count, I enjoyed the rooms and service but you always had so much going on around you. I never felt like I had very much privacy. And while a great number of the staff spoke excellent English, the recommendation made by the staff where adequate at best. I feel this was based only from a different cultural background and not fully understanding my requests. So enough of where not to stay. Let’s focused on where to stay. The sportsmen’s lodge. Did you hear me the SPORTSMENS LODGE? Ok now you want to know why. First, it is close to everything downtown you want to do, but with quite nights and no huge crowds to contend with. Second, it is clean and classic environment makes you feel very at home for your trip. Third, and here is the big reason, Bill and Ray are great! Bill is the owner and an American and no matter what the question he understands your background as an American and can make recommendations that are right on. Fourth, the staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful. Fifth the bar area has all the sports and shows going you want to watch. the bar is the perfect size to always have a warm comfortable feel. Sixth, everyone I have ever meet their has been fun to sit and chat with, and that includes some wonderfully lovely ladies!!. I could keep the list going but I think you get the idea by now. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR NEXT TIME STAY AT THE SPORTSMEN’S LODGE, OR AT A VERY MINIMUM STOP BY AND HAVE A DRINK AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!

You forgot to mention that they have satelite TV including plenty of american channels, and also the pool table next to the bar which I think is free to play. Late at night I found some adult channel hehe, I was with my g/f of the night and so we decided to do whatever they did

I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone who has something negative to say about the SL. The SL is in a class of its own.

My mongering buddy cannot make this trip so I have an extra room at Sportman's from May 30 -June 6. Best offer gets it.

You forgot to mention the porn channel on the in-room tvs.
