Can anyone answer this. Is it true that the Costa Rica will not accept a passport that is within 6 months of expiring. |

Posted by Witling a few days ago, Quote: From this link:
http://www.languagecourse.net/visa/costa_rica.php3 Required documents for visa: (a) Completed application form. (b) 2 passport-size photos. (c) Passport valid for 6 months at time of entry. (d) Proof of sufficient funds to cover duration of stay. (e) Return or onward ticket. This was about a visa, not sure if it applicable to non-visa countries. Why not call the CR Consulate nearest to where you live or check with your airline. |

Most countries want90 days to 6 months left on your passport. Generally it is worthwhile to start the renewal process when you have a year left. IMO |

While they hardly ever check it seems, you are safest renewing your passport before coming. I know a couple cases where guys were sent back home on the next plane for not having more than 6 months left on their passport. I just renewed mine for that reason...didnt want to take the chance. |

From Costa Rican Embassy web site: Quote: VISA REQUIREMENT: none
LENGTH OF STAY: maximum of 90 days All adults and Ch*ldren require the following documents to enter Costa Rica: A passport valid for at least 30 days (expiration date has to be 30 days or more after arrival date). In the case of minors, if they do not have a passport, they should be included in the passport of one of the parents. A pre-paid airline ticket to exit Costa Rica (either to return to your country or to go to another country) If I'm readying this correctly...if your passport is new, it must be valid for at least 30 days before you can use it to enter Costa Rica. And if you had your passport for a while then it must still be good for at least 30 days or more before it expired in order for you to still use it to enter Costa Rica....yes? ![]() |

My advice is dont count on 30 OR 90 days. There are conflicting postings of info on this throughout the internet, and immigration here can change the rules any day they want to. Just play it safe and renew your passport. You really DONT want to get here all juiced up and ready to play...and find yourself on the next plane home. Brand new passports are no problem...I used my new one this week coming in to CR. |
