Sex tourism is a great embarrassment and considered very undesirable. Hotels have to decide whether they want normal tourists, or cater to mongers. Society in general finds it disgusting. Especially when it is public. And since reviews often are public information it only takes one of those American families checking in and seeing some fellow gringo bringing in a hooker and the hotel will be labelled as such. So they have to pick what market they will cater to. It is then a business decision.
It almost sounds like the implication is that most men in this lifestyle don't know how to be discreet about it? While I won't get into the exact number, I've seen over 75 strumpets in my lifetime. The ONLY time I've ever countered a problem was several years ago when I was in Vegas. I was staying at a hotel where they have a "guard" between the casino floor and the hallway that leads to the elevators, which go to the rooms. The guy there checks every single person who walks past, to make sure they have a room key. So I had to go down there and walk the girl past with me.
Other than that, I've never been stopped ONCE in all the time I've been doing this, nor have any of the girls who have come to my room. I don't see anything alarming about a man and woman walking together through a hotel lobby, or even a single woman or man walking through there alone. What would catch my eye if I'm a front desk clerk is if I see someone dressed like Dennis Hof, stumbling drunk out of his mind through the lobby, slobbering all over the floor, and grabbing the boobs and ass of the girl he has his arm around as he attempts to make his way back to his room, all while laughing at the top of his lungs. Of course that's going to attract unwanted attention.
I've seen girls all the way from Portugal to Australia, and I've always stayed in nice hotels. Most of the time there's not a guard, but there may be a bellhop or doorman. On a few rare occasions I've gone to incalls where the girl booked a place that certainly wasn't 5 star. But, it sounds like the cat has already been let out of the bag in this case. In that going back to being discreet isn't going to change the opinion of the hotels in Costa Rica at this point? I just don't understand why it's so hard for people to conduct their business in a respectful and inconspicuous manner. Though from the sound of things at SL, DL, and Castillo, the bigger issue there is the woman hanging around the hotels and approaching the men. That sticks out like a sore thumb, and any "regular" tourist is going to notice that. I guess CR isn't the best place to schedule meetings by the internet, and most business is conducted in person, where it's out in the open
