Howdy fellas, so I’m going to SJ in April and I’m staying at the SL, has anyone used their transportation services from the airport? Are they reliable etc. Is there a better way to get to the hotel? I’ve seen post about Vanessa and she’s charging 40. Any info is appreciated, thank you

Both Vanessa and the SL drivers are dependable, but I prefer Uber or Didi. Last trip I believe it was around $15. I usually check both as they are close but sometimes one is cheaper than the other. Both apps are available from Google Play.

Txman if this your 1st trip I would recommended using the SL drivers as you become more familiar with SJO maybe consider Uber another time. As Uber is the cheapest route its also still illegal and not exactly an easy find for Newbies as Uber drivers will make you walk to departures for a pick up, you will need to sit up front and I have had Policia only once tho ask me who I was waiting for, Getting to departures requires you to walk across the street and up the stairs to the pick up area and await the Uber driver usually last cross walk, now also keep in mind that SJO blocks the Free WiFi from Uber and Didi apps a data plan would need to be purchased prior to arriving in SJO or have a premium package with your USA carrier.

I personally prefer Official Orange Taxi, the driver always help carry my bags and I get a quoted price at the stand prior to exiting Airport.

Thanks buddy I appreciate it. Yeah this will be my first time in CR. I’m going to go ahead and use SL for transportation. It just seems easier and safer. Thanks again for the info

I always use the SL option and ask for the same guy. It’s nice to walk out, bypass the crowd and see a familiar face. Never had an issue with their service.

Cost is $30 plus tip if you want. Just email the SL and ask for transportation from the airport and give them the airline/flight number and arrival time.

Should also mention your driver would be standing outside with a sign with your name on it.

Nocoguy10 was right. Vanessa at shuttle506@gmail.com is a terrific driver and now has a brand-new Tucson with roof racks for surf boards and lots of room inside. Loves the drive from the airport to Jaco or into the city center.

I just spent the month of January 2023 in Costa Rica and used Vanessa several times, for trips from the airport to Jaco, Jaco to San Jose and San Jose to the airport. It is great to have a driver that speaks English and Spanish both well.

She now has internet in her car so you can surf while riding to your destination.
