Or is it like that throughout CR?
Last year I made 4 visits there. Covid was still lingering and in general I found the SL to be quite "dead" with very few exceptions which was understandable. Recent posts on other topics seem to suggest that the Hobby seems to be dying out or just less robust. Then again, that comes from the perspective of us "old-timers" who have been traveling there for 20 + years.
I'm returning again in August and was looking the the SL room availability for multiple dates in August and virtually every room is still available. That seems odd but maybe I'm missing something. With much of Covid now behind us I would have thought things would be picking up but from the recent posts I've read that doesn't seem to be the case. My favorite pastime in SJ is just hanging at the SL. Not an HDR guy or massage parlor guy. But I've read a couple recent comments to the effect that on a good night there are maybe a handful of girls around of which a number of them are past their prime.

Any comments? Would maybe staying at the old Amon Plaza (Taomina?) be that much different?

The recent price increases in airfare to travel nowadays is definitely not helping people get down to Costa Rica as cheaply as they like. Also, lots of putas seem to be hanging out in Jaco, so that decreases the amount of putas in San Jose too. You could stay at the Taormina if you prefer to stay in rooms that resemble a glorified Budget Suites and be surrounded by a very questionable/ghetto crowd when you go to the bar and casino area. Actually, even the Budget Suites probably still has better running facilities than the Taormina and there aren't security guards that give you the death stare while at a Budget Suites either. Anyways, the putas all rotate around the different whoring spots so I personally would still stay at the SL or Castillo over any other places any day of the week while in San Jose.

I've noticed fewer Colombianas in San Jose. Maybe it's because they're all going to Jaco. Maybe it's because more mongers are heading to Colombia.

Been a few years that way I think. They may have a harder time getting into CR, seems I heard something along that line a few years ago now. But I'm not sure. I do think they can do better in Colombia generally.

Since moving here 6 years ago, I have seen a definite shift in the business. Pensions are changing and they attract a different type of chica. No longer just the inexperienced mother, but also a more aggressive type of chica who learned the word "extra." This is a big disappointment for me since pensions have provided me with many entry level chicas. The main places like SL and Taormina attract many experienced, over the hill putas who have been here for years, although you do see a number of new ones who enter the business at the cien boy price point. There is still something for everyone but the experience is very different than before.

Rumor has it that Whitecat raised his offers from 20mil to 25mil and all the 20yr old hotties are lined up in front of his apartment.

Yes.

And also for those like me who still are slaving away in W-2 jobs it is a risk to come down and potentially be denied scheduled return flight if come down with CV19 positive.

So next weekend or Memorial Day wknd. I'm either taking a bus down to Monterrey or flying to San Diego and TJ again! And if TJ again this time will do more escort service to a love hotel or hotel room and for around cien get 1.5 hours of really great service. :D  :D

Proly true. I bagged (err paid sex for) a hot Venezola in TJ last Nov. and many women around the world there!

And I get good strong DFTK in Tj but rarely in CO in CR.

They painted it during the lockdown; nice, bright colors. Even got new flags out front.

Have the mongers faded? Yes, definitely. Did the best chicas migrate online rather than babysit a barstool for 12 hours while a half dozen tourists nurse beers for 11 hours? Yep, they sure did. Did anything happen to reduce the hospitality of the SL management and staff? Bill no longer gives reach around hugs.

My first trip to San Jose was Memorial day weekend in 2005. It seems to me that based on a combination of high air fares, fairly high room rates for small rooms, and a cien for mediocre chicas that there is not much of a reason to go to the SL or any of the other venues at this time.

In terms of price comparison I am paying about $60 per night for decent room in Boca Chica, breakfast included, and about $38-$50 for a nice looking chica. The same can be said for MDE. Just perusing the SL site using different dates in June most of the non courtyard rooms are between $100-$140 + 13% tax. Paying 100% more for a room and 100% more for a below average chica, than you would be in the DR or MDE, is not a good deal. Everybody has their own wallet , or price point, but for me this is a lot of money.

It seems as though most of the guys still going to San Jose are just chasing a memory of days gone by. I wouldn't mind going to San Jose if I knew that if I hung out at the Del Rey, or SL, I would be going home with a gorgeous lady.

How is Boca Chica these days ? When I was there years ago it was dirty and lots of locals bothering me on the beach. Has it changed ?

Thanks

Boca has not been that good for a while now. I have gone a lot so I have some pretty good regulars and that keep me busy for a week. I am in South Florida and when you add airfare, hotels and chica fees Boca is my best option. The panhandlers' are still a pain in the ass. The Piano Bar, the most popular place, got closed down for not paying taxes. I would not recommend it which is why I don't post about it in the other section.

A lot of guys , who use the love connection websites like Tinder, Dominican Cupid ect... seem to be pulling good talent.
