I am planning my first trip to San Jose om March 2-3. I've seen many postings about rates hotels charge to bring ticas back to your room. Does anyone have current info what those rates are? Are there any hotels that are not tica friendly?

Thanks in advance.

You have alot to learn in a hurry.

Do you have a hotel reservation now? If so, which one. That will help us answer your question.

I do not have one yet. I have a business associate from San Jose who said he can get me a room, however, I do not believe he participates in the hobbying.

Suggest you do a search for each hotel name, use the hotels and accommodations section.

Stayed at the Best Western Feb 2 Thru 6 th No problem with bringing chicas back to hotel. Was told at desk $10 U.S. charge for each extra person in room. Had 6 in 5 days and was only charged $10 Total. However they may have made a mistake so check first. If you stay at Best Western DO NOT WALK downtown at night. Take a taxi. O.K. during daytime, Also very friendly staff and nice rooms. Computer in lobby for your use. FREE. This was my first time in CR and spent most nights at the DR. Met a CRT member there and told me about this site. Wish I looked here first, There's so much to see and little time to do it. Will be back May 23 Thru 30th. Good Luck.

I concur with Zoro. I stayed at the Best Western Centro (Hood) in Novimber and they only charged 1 extra guest, albeit several stayed. They didn't even charge for delivering condoms.

Take a cab from that hotel. The shuttle service will try to take you to clubs that offer kickbacks.

My dos colones worth:
Sportsmens Lodge, Hotel Castillo, Morazan, Presidente, Dunn Inn, Del Rey...
Sportmens for the cleaner air and the best hospitality; Castillo for value; Morazan for convenience; Dunn Inn for tranquilla; Presidente for convenience; Del Rey for new guys and a place to start!!
All that said, until I find a place that equals the Sportsmens all around it is my choice of all. And no, there is nothing in it for me to say this.
Pax,
