Hello amigos,

On Sat March 12th I need a friend to be driven from San Jose to Jaco, a one-way ride as she will return with me. Does anyone know of a dependable driver and how much can I expect to pay? Thank you, can t wait to get to Costa Rica.

By bus, c2,475 ($4) - Book and pay online at http://terminal7-10.com/en/rutas/jaco-2/
By Uber, c50,150 ($80) - driver availability and cost will vary by day/time, this quote is from 3/2 @ 1:00
Several shuttle vans between those extremes (Interbus, CaribeShuttle)

Other "private drivers" will try and get you to pay up to $120 (special gringo monger CRT VIP rate).

Is Interbus that expensive ($80)? Thought was more reasonable. One time my flight was an hour late and Interbus stranded me with no refund. Was only $12 at the time (2008ish) but I remember.

I just checked the Interbus website and door to door transport from the Del Rey to the Cocal is $52. That is their regular service where you specify the pickup and drop off points. They also have an economy service with predetermined pickup and drop-off spots but I couldn't get that to come up on my phone.

If this is a local you are transporting, I would just get her a bus ticket. They are used to riding the bus and it isn't too bad. Also you'll be out a lot less cash if she ends up not showing.

Who said Interbus was $80? The $80 price I mentioned was the Uber quote I got this afternoon at 1:00. Right now at 7:34 is it c72,950 ($114).
Caribe Shuttle is $44 from San Jose to Jaco. I think Interbus is similar.

+1
Also, if you just send her the cash for a private driver, 10-to-1 she takes a $4 bus and pockets the difference.
