Well, I had heard about hotel washington from some other members on this board. It is located on calle 9, avenida 2, two blocks down the hill from ground zero.

I had lunch in the gulch and I decided to take one for the crt team and ask permission to look at one of the rooms with a private bathroom. I was quoted 4000 colones per night. There is no A/C, but I did see a fan mounted on the wall. There are some rooms available that share a community bathroom for cheaper than 4000 colones.

The door to the hotel was gated and you had to buzz somebody to go in, but the door to the bedroom was one of those flimsy thin wooden doors with what appeared to be no locks on the door.

I personally like staying at hotels that have better security and close to american standards.

I would think that staying at this hotel is like staying in a hostel.

No ac but you really don't need it in San Jose.It is $10 per night and even has a web site.Not many $10 hotels have web sites.They have hot water a clean bed and good security.By the way I think you posted about Kasandra's place near Oasis.I might be wrong but if you have do you have a report on the facilities there.rbc100
