I will be in san jose march 4th but don't have a hotel. Pres. is full, so is sportsman's. europa no responce. morazan could not get through on phone. Plan on hooking up with non-pros. so no del ray. Any one have any ideas? Thanks. |

Most of us here " Love the Del Rey" so your 1st. post How do you have air and do not have hotel resos ???? Please explain urself more in detail so we might have an idea fur ya ,,,.... Any more questions, just Nucknfuts |

Agree on Hotel La Gran Via . Also try the hotel Europa on Calle Central between Ave 3 and 5 I think. Or Gran Hotel Costa Rica across from the Theater and Hotel La Gran Via. All nice. ( I stayed at the Gran Hotel Costa Rica thirty years ago and I swear it has not changed. No air cond but you do NOT need it in SJO)

Think as many guys hate the the DR as love it. Definitely not the place to stay if hooking up with a non-pro. They avoid the DR like the plague. If the Gran Via has a room thats the place. Hey Getdown: On my last trip, I split a taxi from SJO into the city with a gringo from Oregon (Councilor if you are lurking....post a message) Anyway, this guy arrived in country, didn't speak Spanish, didn't have a room reserved...etc. "ARE YOU PH*CKIN NUTS?" I asked him. He said his trip was just a lark and he would let the chips fall where they might. I told him to follow me and I would try to hook him up with a crib. We get to the Europa (for me) and the cab driver says there are no rooms avialable....complete BS. That hotel has over 75 rooms and I've never seen it full. I talk to the desk mgr. and my bud gets a room. A few things: The Europa isn't great about responding via email or fax. The cabbie probably wanted to set my bud up with other digs for his comission. If the Europa is truly booked...which I doubt, there is always the DR. The Europa never charged me a chica fee. Ask for a poolside room b/c the streetnoise at rush hour sux. Enjoy your trip. DonCarlos has been advertising on this board for his new "Park Hotel Show". You can PM him or email him, he can arrange a room at the Europa for you @$45 a night. Look in the Massage Parlor, Bars, Night Club section, thread is Park Hotel show now at the Hotel Europa. He's helped me and sent me a confirmation number. Shamas |

Hey guys I first want to thank all of you very much for your replys. I love this site  I just received an email from Ray at sportsmans informing me that they had a cancelation. Is that cool or what? So I'm in  I'll be in cr from 3/4 to 3/15. This will be my 5th trip but my 1st trip solo so if anyone wants to throw a few back let me know. I'll be at the BM for happy hour on friday the 4th. I'll buy the first one ( the beer that is ).
nucknfuts, I love the DR too but one night a few years ago I met a knock out non pro at the El Pueblo and everything was going great until she asked me where I was staying. When I told her the DR she had a funny look on her face and excused herself to the el bano. I never saw her again. I hope to meet you all some day soon and thanks again and THANK YOU RAY

GetDown, Sorry I was drunk when I replied... I have never stayed at the Del Rey and never will. Somehow I was thinking about "going to the DR". As most of us enjoy hangin out some there... I'm sure glad you got into the Sportsman... More Nucknfuts at times
