Bad news first, this is out in Santa Ana, very far from the action in the Gulch. I always recommend first time trippers stay at SL, second visit up at LA or down at Castillo, after that YMMV! Also, Hotel Havana is good too!

However, For those seasoned mongers looking for something a little different....

Hotel Luisiana

Good News: What a great hotel! Close enough to airport I could drive my car back to Dollar without GPS. Has a pool, other regular American and Italian tourists. Rooms are clean, beds are good, supermarket a $1.50 uber down the street! The supermarket is the least expensive and nicest one I have found in CR so far! Close to Escazu, poker, malls, etc...also closer to Jaco by 30 minutes (from Gulch)! This is not for everyone, but it is a great hotel for the price. Has a little restaurant on site and the room has a fridge with wine, beer, water, and coke stocked.

I registered with a Chica. I suggest you always register as 2 persons in room and than they don't really care. The hotel is very laid back and easy access for Chica's as they take a taxi or Uber and drive right to Pool area where you can be poolside waiting (have Chica's dress regular/no heels)....At night, you just have to be up front when they arrive (big gate closed to parking lot). The night clerk was very cute, but I didn't make a play....maybe next time...I did bring a Little Cesar Pizza back and a bottle of Chilean wine and while I was at the pool a cute Italian (chubby, but young) came out and lay in the sun...We spoke a bit, but her boyfriend came and went plus as a normal girl, she was wayyyy out of my league....I was content eating my pizza, drinking my wine, and watching her....

I think this is the best, value play, in all of San Jose. And with Skokka, it's easier than ever to get outcall to Santa Ana. I will definitely make this my first night (with my favorita) or last two nights in town coming off the playa for that early am flight. The rooms are bigger and nicer than the SL clubhouse, has a pool, half the price, and with the extra $40 difference I can buy a couple of bottles of nice Chilean dinner wine, a pizza, and still be $5-10 ahead!

Wifi was excellent
A/C was amazing - had to turn it down...
Linen was new, fresh
I had room 112, first floor, all rooms face pool, just suanter on out to pool and sit under pergola.

Pura Vida
