Any info on the current status of the Rey and possible change of business plan (e.g. El Presidente)?

Right before this plandemic the Rey was turning away girls for being 'improperly dressed' and word with the staff was it was going to become a 'family-oriented' establishment which makes no sense at all. For one: if it ain't broke, don't fix it and two: what family in their right mind would want to spend even a night in the gulch?
I keep hoping Matt @ Castillo is going to pick up and run with the slack if ample mongers return.
The Blue Marlin: maybe the coolest bar ever. I really miss that place.

I think there is a market for non-mongering hotels in the gulch as is shown by the continued popularity of the Presidente and the Balmoral hotels. The problem that the Del Rey is going to have is that in order to attract the non-morgering eco-tourists they are going to have to sink a boatload of cash into modernizing the rooms and the lobby areas.

If they change the bar rules so that working girls and their potential clients aren't welcome, then they might as well shut down most of it. They could expand the gaming I guess.

It is going to take a high occupancy rate and pretty steep room rates to make up for the loss of the bar revenue and the elevator fees. They are also going to have to pay of someone in the government to clean up the neighborhood or else the eco-tourists will just stay away.

If they are hell bent on changing the image of the hotel then a good plan might be to go ahead with that and revitalize the Key Largo and Little Marlin bars and have them cater to the hobby.

Probably won't have any definitive answers until after this pandemic subsides, there is a vaccine and tourism returns to normal.
