I have used Air bnb a half dozen times without any problems. Before booking I contacted the owner and was very clear in asking them if they had any restrictions on entertaining visitors while assuring them I was a quiet guest and would not be having parties or excessive drinking. I found 75% replied no problem and I'm sure they understood my request. Discretion is key here since most of the places are family oriented. |

Also, most of the listings will cover their guest policy under their "house rules" section which you find on each listing. You may have to page for "more" to see all the rules. That, and contacting the owner, should tell you the guest policy. If you are searching all types of places a lot of time the unit will be a bedroom in a home you share with the host family. Of course you would not be bringing guests in that case. So first select that you want a place all to yourself, then the area, then look at individual listings that you are seeing. I've not been successful finding listings in downtown area of SJ that allow guests. But not saying they are not there. Actually, that is not quite true. I should say "places I want to stay" in downtown area. |
