I'm looking for a chick friendly hotel for 2/1 - 2/3, for the SB Party at SL.
Was considering Dunn Inn but don't know their policy regarding visitors.
I normally stay at Castillo or Amistad, but won't need an all-inclusive this trip.
Looking forward to the Super Bowl at SL.

Dunn Inn no chicas allowed.

HLA and Castillo - did they eliminate regular room rate? Why not just ask them for the non-all-inclusive rate?

You can stay at LA or Castillo without the all inclusive. With the CRT discount it's pretty affordable.

The SL website lists a few rooms available. Probably some last minute cancellations. Although they might have a four night minimum for Super Bowl. Worth sending them an email to inquire.

Thanks for the scoop, especially on Dunn Inn.
SL does have a 4-night minimum for SB weekend.

Taormina has rooms available, you are looking at $105 a night
Chica friendly, not far from SL

Taormina has really gone down hill and is way over priced. Bad service, bad food, no action in the bar, bugs in the rooms, very unfriendly employees, just all around disappointing.

Sorry to hear that, as Taormina used to be a decent option. When did you last stay?

I ask because recent Taormina reports (latest November 2019) have been favorable: good room price with American style buffet breakfast included, Gatto Pardo and the sports bar food is decent, very few working girls except for a few hanging out in the sports bar at night, and the service seems OK for the most part - at least housekeeping and front desk, security are dicks.

Hadn't heard about bugs! Yechh!

Used to be a big fan my self. Was there just a few days ago, there were two very large chicas at the end of the bar every night and I do mean large. A few would wander in and stay a short time and leave and none of them were anything to brag about. Bathroom was infested with "ghost ants". Told the front desk but nothing happened. Looked in the bar for the final playoff games and there were only two customers and the one bartender so headed over to the Sportsmans' to watch the game. Bedding is not changed daily not even sure if it's weekly. Minnie bar is outrageous prices and was told they can not remove it so I had to hide everything in the closet/suitcase and put it back out when I departed. Front desk people were polite but not remotely friendly like the old crew was. Buffet was pretty bad, they have the nastiest sausages I have ever tasted, the eggs are runny to the point of almost slimy. On the plus side they will bring you eggs to order but they were burnt for the most part. Restaurant portions have greatly reduced in size but the food ordered in the bar was actually pretty good. Go figure it's the same restaurant. All in all the place has become very dull over priced and just not much to write home about.

I stayed one night last summer for $65 a night plus tax I though it was great. Was on third floor and room was nice and clean and bed was great. Brought 1 chica from SL and then later a chica from DR with no problems. Left at 6am for airport so didn't try resturant.

I wuz at the Taormina last September, stayed on 4th floor, no complaints. Service and cleaning was great. Did tip the maids daily, also tipped the breakfast buffet tip jar a couple times as well. Desk staff were great, and picked up a couple of ladies from the sports bar, signed into room, and the night staff always called to ensure I was ok when they left. Booked the hotel for my return trip for this March. I am a very satisfied customer - so far. Prior to this hotel my favorite place to stay was the Dunn Inn - nothing seems to stay the same in CR except maybe the Del Rey, like the energizer bunny, it keeps going and going and going. Last September I did notice one change at the "Pink Hotel", a band was playing at the side entrance, a good change I think. The chicas seemed to like it. Question for the board, are they still playing the band at night?

It’s a good option now that the Dunn Inn has changed their policy. Central location.

Have to agree with Whitecat. Location is excellent, and a plus is the convenience of the casino cashier to pick up colones. A lot easier to exchange at the casino than at my usual place the INS building, plus the exchange difference is minor and not a deal breaker. Very satisfied with the hotel. Though maybe not this year, have been planning another asia trip for next year, but if I cancel that trip will do a week at the Taormina and a week at the Castillo (stayed there once on my 2d trip to CR - prerenovation -2006 me thinks - haven't been back). The people were great but the place was way tired back then (the Castillo) - have only heard and read good things about it since its reopening.
