Thinking of making a return visit to San Jose and the Hotel Del Rey.

My question to you men who are in the know is this...

Has the Del Rey updated or remodeled the guest rooms in the last 10-12 years since I last stayed there?

Curious. It was pretty run down then, or is it the same and dated now... maybe I should look elsewhere?

Look at the Taormina (Mona Lisa years past). There's a thread about it. 'Been my fav place for years and still is.

If you get the queen economy for $60 a night. Then yes all will be the same. Thick old non hd tv. If you get the standard king $70 room is updated and flat screen tvs.

They still look like 1970 Howard Johnson rooms, but they're big, clean, great maid service, great service in general, air conditioned and you're in the belly of the beast.

It's not what it was in the glory years but there's still tang there almost 24/7.

Some guys like the more elegant great food included Amistad or Castillo.

Some like the cooler mini version of the HDR (available ladies parading about for your perusal) without the hassles of being in thug heaven downtown, frat house atmosphere SL with great service, management, bar and restaurant.

Some like the cheaper more obscure places like Morazan and Taormina.

If you still love to be in the belly of the beast, like in the movie "From Dusk to Dawn", there's still no competition, lol.

For me the Penthouse at Zona 2, HLH, Zona Blue, whatever you remember it as, it was my favorite place to stay. The thrill of having a chica on the balcony, hanging onto the railing as I was nailing her from behind, all the while engaging the tranny's below in raucous banter. Good Times

Lol, I remember getting looks from them sometimes as I would enter HLH, have not seen the Penguins in a long time though. It has been a while since I stayed there as I have a house in Heredia.
