Every trip to San Jose I stay at Sportsmen Lodge or Del Rey. Next trip I want to try a new place and would sincerely appreciate your assistance! Does anybody know if Hotel and Casino Taormina Or Hotel Castillo charge for bringing girls back to the room? Hotel Castillo looks appealing with their all-inclusive meal deal, but at the end of the day the most important thing is the cost of bringing women back to the room. Secondly, which hotel has more women working their lobby and are they laid back like Sportsmen Lodge Hotel or aggressive like Del Rey? Lastly, Hotel Castillo accepts our CRT card for discounts and that also makes them appealing. Thanks everybody for taking the time to give me your input! 8)

No charge to bring in girls at Castillo. Also no girls just hanging out. If they are there they are with a guest. So pretty chill. Value of catillo or amistaad is incredible. You wont be disappointed.

Taormina has a bar where a few chicas hang out but not near the volume of HDR or SL.
Its an American style hotel vs Castillo which is a renovated boutique hotel.
I dont believe you can combine the CRT discount with the all inclusive deal at Castillo, its one or the other. The all inclusive is the way to go IMO, you can also partake at Amistad which is the other direction from SL

All great info from the brothers above.

...I remember when I was exactly in your shoes and wanted to try something different...my recommendation is wherever you stay next time - Make sure sure you try and visit other hotels in the gulch so can get a vibe about each place....

Many of us, when taking the mandatory MP Walking Tour ( look for map on CRT) we take pit stops at as many hotels (with bars) and cantinas that we can and see what visiting brothers and local curmudgeons are chillin out. Often you meet interesting mongers and have great conversations....(other times you just hear an old boring fart talk about himself!)

Either way- it’s an experience!

Hint: if you start your pub crawl at La Amistadt, it’s all down hill to Taormina!

La Amistadt
Sportsmens
Castillo
New Fantasy
Havana/Zona Combo
Taormina

Soda Peru, Bar Poa, and Malibu just up the hill.

And Don Carlos & Hotel Dunn Inn are nearby for a stroll down memory lane!

Castillo and La Amistad have the best deals going with the all inclusive package. 3 meals and drinks for an extra 10 bucks a day. Can't beat that. You have peace and quiet all day as no unescorted ticas are allowed. chill with the fellas, watch tv, play pool, etc. Latin divas (NF) and zona two blocks south. Sportsmens two blocks north. Del Rey about 10 minute walk.
Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.

Just to be clear in case you don't know...he means the actual walk, not the quality of the locations. LOL

I have stayed at SL, Amistad and Castillo, all are good hotels with good service and friendly folks. Amistad sometimes has ladies hanging out there but less than a handful if any. Also in terms of noise level, Amistad is noisy with the train tracks right there. The noise would make me hesitant about staying there again.

As mentioned above Castillo doesn't have ladies hanging out there (at least I have never seen)

Also as a side note since folks mentioned Cafe's above...I don't know the name of it, but right across the street from Amistad (Across AVe 11)is a nice cafe with very good service. They "Brew" you coffee right at the table; was an interesting experience the first time I went there. Also Cafe Mel around the corner of SL is a nice place as well.

Yes, I meant you start drinking at La Amistadt and it’s a down hill walk where Taormina is at the bottom. Catch a cab back!

Right down from LA on 15th (follow rail road tracks) is one of the nicest French restaurants in town. Reservations recommended.

Restaurante La Terrasse

I see it's been a while since this topic was discussed, but I'm really curious if anyone has had any recent experiences with this. Have things changed much, or is it still pretty much the same? Also, any new spots or tips that people have found useful? Always good to hear fresh updates from those who’ve been around recently.

While Staying at Both The Castillo & La Amistad and having a Beverage or Two at the Bar & tipping well with both $$ and different types of Chocolates & Candies I was told by the OWNER (Matt) they DON'T want your Candy as HE scoffed up most of the CANDIES they DON'T want it they ONLY want the $$$. So when I only gave $$ they Asked " No Candy" I responded YOUR BOSS said that you DON'T want the Candies & only the $$$. WELL the LOOK COULD have KILLED hopefully NOT ME but the OWNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
